I'm tired of everbody arguing, saying that things from the books would confuse people who hadn't read them. And I'm tired of everybody arguing, saying that the should include everything from the books. It's easy to put in a reference to the books, you just have to explain it. Example, on how multiple Spartans could be included (I'm not saying they should be; it's just an example); a cutscene showing the Spartan's leaving the Autumn for Reach; you see the Pelican being shot down and Keyes says something that implies they are dead; cuts to Reach's surface and you see Spartan's leaving the crash site alive; shows some of them dieing from the Covenant onslaught and some of them running to an underground bunker; shows four or five Spartans being rescued by a human ship; someone makes a quip about thinking MC was the only one left. Then, you later find out, that while MC was on Cairo Station, the other Spartans were on other stations. Or they could have left for some mission (The Ghosts of Coral, maybe?). If the references are explained simplistically, people will not get confused. What if Bungie likes something from one of the books and wants to include it? There is nothing stopping them; nobody will say, "That was in the books, we can't put that in the game." The events of some of the books should not be explained in detail, just like a 30 second cutscene.
