Before you post read what i have to say. I really want a Health Bar in Halo 3 and i have my reasoning. In Halo 2 unless you killed someone they werent subject to any lasting damage. However not having to scavenger-hunt for Health Packs in campaign was nice. What i am about to propose is the middle ground between realisticness and fun. If any of you have read the Halo Books (which most probabaly have) you will know of a popular medical substance know as Biofoam. If you look on Halopedia you will see that Biofoam is a vast collection of Amino Acids which, using futuristic technology, have been altered to work extremely fast. The Amino Acids in this foam quickly heal inured blood vessels and organs while sealing the open wound for repair. Amino Acids can be recreated by hormones found in Ribosomes. This is very important. If hurt you could inject whatever needed amount to bring yourslef back up to full health. Judging by the amount you use you could run out, temporarily. The amino acids in Biofoam cansiter could be rehcarged by a very proficient and fast working artificial ribosome. Just like the Halo CE flashlight recharged the Biofoam in canister would also recharge. Of course, the Biofoam would recharge relatively slowly. I think this would be a great addition to Halo 3 and i hope if Bungie reads this they will be able to put this in the game. You could use this option with that unused D-pad.

Subject: I Really Want a Health Bar in Halo 3!!! Read what i have to say.

they just removed the visual bar,

stand in place and toss a frag at your feet, youll lose your shields but not die,

let your shields recharge, and do it again

let your shields recharge and do it a third time, youll die

tell me if there is no tracked health in halo 2, why do you die the third time but not the first?

Damn snipers!!!

I have now read the books...

your stupid makes my brain sad

this is and old topic....however i think the more damage you take the less your shields regenerate. so if youve been in 5-6 shield draning fights, then you only re-charge to say 75%, and/or it charges slower as well as you stai alive it slowly gets back to full power.

You were talking about bio-foam right? Well i might be mistaken but they said in the Halo 2 manual that the armor already had an automatic bio-foam injector to seal wounds.

You know why I want a health bar? It's realistic. When I hurt myself, I can always determine how many bars I have left.

Your health regenerates in much of the same way as the shield. Do the same thing, but wait 15 seconds before each grenade. You'll never die (unless it is a plasma grenade).

When you shoot yourself in the foot, do you look at your health bar to see how much life you have left? Health bars aren't realistic. Just annoying. If I have to spend all my time on multiplayer running away from gunfire to find a healthpack, i'm not going to play. I would just rather have a shield. I don't want to have to wait for my shield AND my health to go back up. So I say NO to health bars.

A non constantly recharging helath bar is the perfect stopper to most power weapon wielders who get too overconfident.

Good examples involve the process of widdling down a distant sniper's health so that although he has a superior weapon your superior skill in nade tosses/ quick shots with a pistol or now a BR would award you as now his lowwer skill (if infact he is of lower skill otherwise his higher skill would have prevailed and you would be the dead one) has landed him in a situation where his power weapon is no longer as much of an advantage because you were capable of widdling down his health with your weaker weapon.

This theory applies equally to all anti power weapon strategies. Think how long can a sword user charge headlong into a room if after the first time he is scarred for not using stealth or for relying on his sword so much.

Now on a normal weapon to normal weapon scale this can also work out well. In one vs one it truly awards he who has the better shot or he who can ambush as now you may have not killed your target but because you inflicted that damage he is weaker and your earlier effort is rewarded.

Though health also pays off heavily when a player is outnumbered. If an outnumbered player manages to stop his foes offense toward/ at him (their little spam rush or attempt to fire at him) by dealing damage to their overall health their numerical superiority is reduced in that their sheer power to rush and spam (in general apply more damage for outnumbering). Though if the two players are wise/ talented enough they can overcome this and still maintain superiority through their numbers.

A similar principle works for general smal skirmishes between teams in the concept of correctly applying now permanent (until healing) damage which will hamper a player's ability in further action because he/ his team was not cautious to wisely manage how much damage they were taking (such as rewarding well placed shots over rushing/ spamming a foe and taking more damage yourself).

Though I do agree a consistant way to regain health would make for the perfect match between both run and gun feel and the well planned out strategy needed to win an actual battle.

I would propose upon the killing of an enemy a small (perhaps 2 (of the total 6) health bars) can be healed so long as the killing player walks over his dead enemy (could be an example of collecting his spare medical supplies etc.) Though to ensure fairness only the actual killing player will be able to see/ recieve these small powerups.

This would reward those who take the most risk and get closer into combat (usually the ones with weaker guns as usually it will take longer time for a BR user at his range to close in on his health reward than if someone only equipped with an AR/ SMG had to land his kill) So the lone sniper off in the distance will have to abandon his sniper spot if he takes too much damage as he will not be granted an easy health ticket.

OF coarse these powerups would have to only stay around for a short time as otherwise one could achieve immortality by stacking his dead and constantly positioning himself in place to recieve a stockpiled health boost.

This system in conjunction with a few openly placed full health kits could keep the game both fast paced and keep planning in the game.

Though on any scale an accountable non consitantly recharging health system I feel is needed.

In response to ding ding: You don't need to run and find a health pack if you beat your enemy through being more aware/ a better shot as your health would be higher if not completely undamaged. Otherwise i would see how just running into a room pulling dual triggers would get you some damage though wouldn't it have been wiser to nade and then fight your target so that you yourself take less damage?

i dont think thats a good idea because you already have the recharging shield and you dont really get injured and also in halo 1 they had the medical kit which would serve for the same thing healing yourself like the biofoam and i dont tink they'll be putting the little bars form halo one back in

I agree. Medpacks and a health bar should return.

Bungie wanted Halo 2 to be fasted pased. They put it kinda like this: Halo 2 is like a abulance going 110mph and ninjas are chasing you, and the abulance is on fire. Something like that. I'll find the exact qoute and re post it later.

Not really... And it's going 130mph through a hospital zone, chased by flaming helicopters and ninjas. And the ninjas are on fire too.

My idea for recieving the health boost after the kill, along with available health packs spaced out would replace the current constantly regenrating health system. I personally feel it would lead to balanced play on most scales though whatever bungie does is what bungie does.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Thre will not be anymore Healthbars at all in Halo 3... why do you think they got rid of them in Halo 2?

The slowly rechargeing shield woudn't work for single player. If it recharged slower over time then later in that level it would become very difficult to win. Also the sheild chargind slower overtime would be just as bad as help packs, instead of looking for health packs you sit and wait for your shield to recharge for a while.
