I hope im right on this, im about 80% sure so if some scientist is on these forums please correct me
here goes, mass is the amount of matter within a given object, therefore gravity may condense the matter, but the amount of matter stays the same no matter how much gravity is acting upon the matter. That would mean that the pillar of autumn would have the same amount of mass if it were crashed on a planet (assuming it was completely intact) than if it were in space. Comparing mass and weight is like deciding between a final fantasy game and Halo for RPG of the year, it just doesnt work that way
