I sincerely hope Halo 3 takes a similar approach to Halo 1's campaign.

I don't. Halo's campaign was good, for the first 5 1/2 levels. Then it became repitition layered upon repitition, with the added tedium of going through every level again. Halo 2's campaign at least kept the variety up, it's just that pacing was off. Too much wandering to get to the next point of action, too many moving platforms. But I never got tired of the levels the way I did with Halo 1.

I'm wondering though, why does everyone seem to remember Halo's campaign as some wonderful, free roaming choose-your-adventure?. Halo 2 was linear, but so was Halo 1. I don't care how big the exterior of Assault on the Control Room was, we all went through the same doors to get the next checkpoint.

I only agree with the no bosses part. I mean coome on, Halo 1 was so easy to beat on Legendary compared to Halo 2! Don't go saying the opposite. I did like haveing a lot more open places in Hal 1, though. Still, I prefer the Halo 2 campaign.

Fair enough,
and what if I did say the opposite? I mean come on dude I can say what I want, right? (which I won't, even Bungie said Halo 2 Legendary was Harder - and I agree with them.)
;-)

I have got to agree with Turin on this one. The legendary co-op layout was better for H1. If you dont want to take the cheap way out and use your partner as a spawn point there is a simple way to go about not doing it. Its called self restraint. I managed it. The reason I like the H1 set up better is because most of my friends have never heard of the term tactics and just run on in there guns blazing and they die a lot, it is not like they are bad in versus they are just fine ,but we can never finish a level because as soon as you die yo uhave to start the whole thing all over again.

That's what I have been trying to say, thanks Coyote.

OK....?

You had to fight in big open spaces in Halo CE, less corridor crawls and more varied landscape.

1 you knew about the flood because it was in halo CE and Halo 2 was a sequel, in sequels things like the flood are to return somehow, what did you want, a jack in the box to pop out of a room where the flood were supposed to be, now that would be unexpected

2 So what's the idea about adding only a MP weapon?

3 Halo 3 will probably be longer than both of them, maybe even longer than them togheter

4 the boss battles is a part of the story, would you have prefered cut-scenes and remove more gameplay? Regret said he would activate the rings, so he had to be stopped, Tartarus was interupting the un-activation of the rings so he had to be killed.

5 Even though I didn't like the Cliffhanger that much, it was good, you can expect a new game. I doubt that Halo 3 will have a Cliffhanger ending

6 Power-ups are for MP, now if they added some survival mode that would be fun with active camo.

7 What do you mean?

8 They had to make them speak english when you are the arbiter, maybe a "language" option would be good? Do you fear the enemy?

9 They were boring

10 It's legendary, it's supposed to be hard, not, "grind your enemy down one by one while dying 2 times doing so" easy. If you want to respawn at you mate play heroic.

Most of your replies are personal opinion (as are many of mine) so I will get in to those that I believe aren't.

About my first point: I wanted somethng to surprise me, is that so hard to comprehend. And yes it is a sequel but how about something new and unexpected?

About the second, I didn't understand.

The third... I hope you are right.

The fourth... Halo is not Super Mario Bros. or so other game that has Bosses. I plain didn't like the Bosses.

Seven... I mean that playing as the Arbiter caused me to feel compassion for the Elites especially because they had been deceived.

If you didn't fear any of your enemies the game woldn't be fun.

so nothing in Halo 2 suprised you? It was full of suprises, big flood thing, arbiter, and lots of other things. Or did you want some new enemy that would have appeared like the flood? Maybe Forerunner return? Sentinels allied with humans?

What is the point of adding a new weapon (beam rifle) and not have the covenant use it? Or did you mean that someone else should use it than the Jackals? The other ones would be as good as the Jackals, So adding a new weapon and only use it in Multiplayer would be ridiculus.

It's the conlusion to the story arc, it's bound to not be a cliffhanger

In Halo CE there were no bosses because the hole thing was to get of the ring and back to human controlled space, there were no brute leaders there, the better elites there were gold, and not much of bosses, but kind of "mini bosses" if you like. There was a prophet on truth and reconcilliation but I guess he didn't have a chair like the Hierachs (or however you spell it) and was in a completly different area than the one that MC and the marines enterd.

As for Halo 2, it was a different thing, a prophet made it to earth and MC and company followed, they were to capture him, when it was clear that he was to activate the ring he had to be taken down. Now, taking down him was kinda fun because you had to get up close and punch him, a small puzzle there, anyway, a cut-scene wasn't enough, what would have happened in that? MC would have come in, pointed a gun at the prophet and said "you're mine, follow me and you won't get hurt"?, Regret was guarded like hell and could take some serious punichment. As for Tartarus, he was in the way when Halo had to be prevented from activation, would you have prefered a regular brute?

Probably, but do you feel compasion for them when they shoot marines? And they aren't your enemy when you play as the arbiter

It is hard to make an enemy to fear, it's a strong word to use fear, after a while of playing you will notice that they are not bad and then not fear them anymore and i fail to see why you have to fear an enemy to have fun while playing a game

make some more choke points along with the rest of what you said. I want to be pumping with adrenaline and screaming beligernt insults at alien corpses after I have survived two dozen enemies with only a clip of ammo.

make it feel deperate. In Halo: CE, I felt desperate, escape the covenant and the Ring, and then, esacpe the flood first, escape the covenant, and finally, blow up ring and live, and thats a pretty desperate goal. Blow up a damn space ring older than human civilization. Drastic indeed. But Halo 2 felt like they wanted you to take it slow and enjoy the view, the enemies were more for duck and cover than for rushing you mindlessly and furiously. Give me some bridges with flood hopping over from adjacent structures, and covenant packed onto it, all screaming for my blood.

Concerning the Beam Rifle: What I meant was, and I think I posted it already, that it is too powerful (you die on legendary when you get shot on the leg or lower torso) that is annoying, I mean jackals get shot and they don't die immediately and MC with is MJOLNIR armour just dies... I mean come on. And when you have to memorize the positions of every Jackal in each checkpoint and take them out one by one, it just takes out all the fun.

I hope you get my point this time.

You see, I don't know what I want, that's the whole point... I want to be surprised. As soon as the arbiter came into the picture I could guess what was going to happen.

About the Arbiter and feeling compassion for the deceived elites, I don't know how to express myself any better. Sorry.

That's right... Desperate. That feeling (of Desperation) is missing in Halo 2.

I don't know...I think each campaign was good in it's own way. Like Halo 2 was bad for predictibility, but Halo 1 had some major level design issues. It got really repetitive after a while. Especially in the Library.

Yes the Library was definitely the worst Level on Halo 1. And the only one that I have only passed once or twice on every difficulty, while the others multiple/uncountable.
