Maybe it's some kind of hologram inside the helmet, showing them what's outside the suit.[/quote]

Possible, but then why the fake visor? Unless the visor itself is the sensor/information gathering thing that displays onto the hud...

That seems like the best explanation. Still seems like if they were going to use imaging tech they'd have it smaller so it's harder to hit and damage. In any case, I'm not a fan of any of the new armour I have seen so far. That's a shame because customising my Spartan in Reach was cool. I'm guessing I won't be happy with how my character will look in halo 4.

There's still a few good armors tbh. Recon, Scout and Warrior all look okay, Deadeye is somewhat okay, I heard ODST will return, Mk. VI will hopefully be usable, and I quite like the "Orbital" helmet.

They dont' have to be functional. It is a fiction video game. Lets keep it in perspective.

So UNSC ships should start having giant bayonets fixed onto the front? Because that's cool. Entirely bad in terms of function, but it's just a video game, right? :/

Thanks. As long as there is at least one that doesn't look like something from Gundam Wing I'll be happy. I just like the "classic" Halo aesthetic. I never liked Hayabusa and the new armous seem to be in that vein.

Edit: Also I agree with this ^^^. The best fiction is laced with reality.

I thought they made it clear they were trying to make the armor look more functional and realistic,

Spit my drink all over my keyboard.

Will 343 ever stop lying?

Maybe they weren't lying. maybe they think the new armour does look functional? They'd be wrong of course.

MP is now canon, so that means this new armour is canon. You are on a forum dedicated to canon. That's why it matters.

Fotus armor definitely looks like it's trying to appeal to the masses.

I think it'd look better without that crest on the forehead.

Probably the only armor that appeals me in H4 is the Oceanic one. Recruit also looks interesting.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

I'm assuming that the inside of the helmet has some sort of screen, fed by the outside visor. I dunno...

I love how Spartans don't look like Spartans anymore. And I love that Bungie started the trend in Reach and 343 fell in love with it and took it way overboard.

Generally, the entire game reeks of "trying-too-hard."

I would be willing to overlook that because it would be hilarious watching a UNSC ship bayonet a Covenant Cruiser. The helmets just look ugly.

Yeah, that one doesn't even make sense. Maybe it will all be explained in Halo 4? One can only hope.

I know this isn't directly related to the visors, but I finally saw pics of all the armour for MP. They are all ugly as sin!! I'll be willing my enemies to kill me for being so hideous!

global warming isn't proven and won't be - it's more of a political play for funding for "research"

They don't.

343's team of random group of people from every shooter besides Halo thinks cool is greater than realistic looking functionality.

Yeah... honestly, unicorns?

You get... unicorn themed stuff for buying the limited edition halo 4 XBOX....

I'd rather something like, fitting for universe and awesome... Like say, UNSC symbol... or something.
