How would you feel if Bungie allowed you to, for a one-time thing, say, next Bungie Day (much like Blue Flames, even though that was for a month), remove either all the numbers from the end /beginning of your username, or remove (up to) 3 characters from the end of your username?
I know there's probably a lot of people out there (like me) who have been on here and would like it if, without completely changing their identity, they could get rid of the numbers or the "xX" they put at the end of their username (for seemingly no reason whatsoever), and I feel like, as long as it was a one-time or one-week or one-month offer, it wouldn't be quite as drastic and those against the complete username change idea (as I am) would be a little bit more pacified with this solution/offer.
What're your thoughts on the subject?
(Note: I know that I am extremely biased in this situation, no need to point that out.)
e: Due to ideas proposed below, I think that the removal of an unlimited number of characters (in other words, you can take out as many as you want) and the capitalization of an equally infinite amount of letters would be a better idea. I only wanted to limit it to make it so it wouldn't be that much of a different identity (thus being stuck with your original username to a degree).
I still think you should only be able to work from the ends. (I couldn't remove the extra Z in mine unless I first removed the "Craz" or the "ySnipe55".)
Then, just in case somebody totally butchers their name beyond recognition, there would be a drop down button next to those who'd changed their name so that you can see who they used to be known as.
e2: You would not be able to completely change your username with this... er... offer? Yeah, offer. It would just be for the deletion of characters, and capitalization of letters. I'm still all for keep your (basic) identity the way you originally signed up with it, which is why (originally) I was only suggesting the removal of a couple characters and not even the capitalization. (But then I changed it realizing how limiting that would be.)
