There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

ALAN IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN!

Dear Bungie,

This is not going to be a love letter to you, or your dog head, or your ninjas, or even to Deej. No, this time it shall be different. I'm writing to you, and your community to let you know that you have single-handedly impressed my father, as well as myself.

I've informed him throughout the years of you and your leaking, which has kept us coming back. We thirst for your leaking. Without your weekly leaks of a wide variety of content, life would be just a little bit more boring...and dry.

Anyways, aside from the teases you have been doing to us, I've also informed him about your mail sack contests, your Breaking Ins, your (dare I say it) BWUs, Golden Tickets and most importantly, the Webmaster.

He has had nothing of praise for you, your marketing team, and how clever your business practices are to keep us coming back, be it with rewards of merchandise or new info. I would have you know he's not an easy man to impress.

His, (and my) question is: How do you do it? Is this a result of your marketing team, or is it other employees in a different field? Or is it just overall experience from life and past games?

Thanks for being slightly above mediocrity.

-Mr. U

(PS. Answers would be nice, but I'm sure we can make anything suffice.)

[To the Community]

Have any relatives, friends, or family been impressed by Bungie's techniques, games, or overall vibe? Is Halo a household name that they know and trust? What other companies do you know do a similar practice, if any?

Speak!

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

My father doesn't know what a "Bungie" is.

If my parents cared, I'd tell them the same thing.

Yup, My kids love all kinds of games. They know that their Dad enjoys a particular company called Bungie that made the Halo game. But that's about it. I'm thinking my daughters might have a chance to own Bungie, hopefully sometime before Bung takes over the world.

I actually used bungie.net to do some data collecting for a research paper of mine. I used the flood as my source because I expected a lot of variety.

Probably should have tried the community forum also, but I got enough data for my project.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

You know, it is funny that you ask as I had been thinking about this recently. My father and I talk often, mainly about politics and whatever comes up on the news. Recently, though, I have been bringing up Bungie and this community more and more. We watched the O Brave New World ViDoc together, and he enjoyed it even though he is not a gamer. There have also been many sociological phenomenons that we have discussed, and I have often talked about how many things are reflected in this community.

In the way that all things are connected, this community functions as a microcosm of society. The issues we discuss are mirrored in the real world. We have argued politics while avoiding political discussion. We have reached across party lines because we did not think of them. Our principles guided us clear and true. We have debated on how our community leaders, the Forum Ninjas, should be chosen (should we vote, or should we let the PIC do all of that). We have debated on how our community should be censored, and on the merits of certain rules. We have talked about the roles of enforcers, should they crack down on everything they see to the very letter of the law, or should they rather stick to our report queue, only punishing those who are doing harm?

These are all topics that we have discussed, some at length, some only fleeting, but I am astounded at the oneness that this community shares with the world. But we have done more than the world, gone farther and been greater. We've worked together to do silly things. We have played games together, and we get along. When there is a challenge, we approach it not with regret or fear, no! We approach challenges with enthusiasm and conquer them together.

We are the eyes of the world, the mind of the world, and the future of the world...but we are only one part of a whole.

Step 7 is begun. You know your mission.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

According to my parents, I use the internet to 'play games'. I cant remember the last time I played a game in an internet browser.
