Subject: About friendly fire

In my opinion, 343 should honestly remove it. So many times do people betray for the sniper on btb. you spawn with a dmr and that is as good as a sniper.
What does everyone else think?

No.
The game got dumbed down enough as it is.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

It isn't that simple. If I fire rockets into a room with an ally and an enemy, only the enemy would be killed and it would be unrealistic.

Some have recommended making only AoE weapons be able to betray allies. Others have offered despawning the round of ammo it used. I prefer the former.

I want betraying back in Alpha zombies beacause I would shoot one person and pretend it wasnt me and he'd betray everyone else... how fun

Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

No, but if I recall correctly, 343i is doing that anyway.

Why have your mistakes punished? After all, there's occasionally a deviant fiend asserting his self-perceived entitlement to a power weapon! He simply must be stopped by sacrificing balanced gameplay for everyone else!

Occasionally? Errr how about all the time. Is it so taboo to keep friendly fire on something like the MLG and Arena playlists?

For Christ's sake, every other playlist is casual anyways, why does there have to be friendly fire? "Oh no, the game won't be realistic! It takes no skill to have zero friendly fire!!" Spare me. Go play MLG if you're this overly competitive.

I'm sick of letting idiots grab sniper because they throw a *&#@fit if they don't have it.

And by the way.... starting with a team that betrays eachother right off the bat is a far greater handicap than friendly fire being turned off.

You sound butthurt about your own personal experiences. The reason that people betray you for the sniper is because they realize you're an awful player, and that you would just probably end up dying and giving the other team said sniper. Next game why don't you just hide in the corner to help your team; I assure you no-one will bother you.

All I needed to determine this was your argument. Any player who understands the core game play mechanics and the meta-game should realize friendly fire is essential.

Halo multiplayer sucks!

Based on campaigns

Halo 2 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo 3 > Reach/CE tied

If its annoying then just stop playing lolHalo

So because you reviewed my argument and disagree with it, then that must mean players must know I'm awful with sniper. Yea that makes loads of sense. That's what you meant in a nutshell.

And please explain how friendly fire is essential. Please do because any butthurt a-hole will betray for power weapons, griefers will take advantage of harming teammates for just cause, and players will be booted for asinine betrayals. Such as shooting down a banshee and a piece of debris betrays a teammate. This is all the cause of friendly fire being turned on.

So what if somebody shoots a rocket at their teammate and an enemy, but the teammate survives because friendly fire is turned off. That'll happen far less frequently than what's stated above you helmet wearing, pants on head retard.

The only reason why I would suggest it's considered essential is if it's on MLG/Arena because there are far less trolls/idiots to ruin the game.

Bottom line, friendly fire is a burden on every casual playlist.

The friendly fire mechanic should stay. It should even allow the most idiotic of players to think before firing.

Actually, I didn't respond to this ^ well enough. That's not what I would say after any game that nose dived into complete disarray by some -blam!- that didn't get their precious sniper they set their eyes on. This is more of what I would say.

"I didn't enjoy that game so I'm going to criticize what went wrong for the better. Because maybe in the future if friendly fire is turned off, a team won't be held back by idiots/trolls that have no right to be on a team that wants to win."

If I wanted people to not enjoy the rest of their games, I would shoot every friendly I see so they play like *&%#. Abusing the almighty flawless friendly fire.

Aight I'm going to bed. Leave your dumb*%# response here.

My friend and I play split screen, so when we are booted for "betraying" a teammate, the team loses two people. We were playing yesterday and our teammates kept killing us, so we decided to bug the dude that betrayed us, so after my friend got betrayed 3 times by the same person we still couldnt kick him, then we killed him once in retaliation and we got booted right away. I dont understand, it constantly doesnt let us boot players wen we get flagrantly betrayed, but if it is an obvious mistake on the [part of the teammate we always get the option to betray. On the other side wen we accidentally betray a teammate without fail we are booted.

Yeah, obviously there's no betrayal booting system to prevent this.

They really need to remove it in playlists with no betrayal booting. Even without the help of trolls, playlists like grifball can quickly deteriorate into a betrayal-fest.

It's idiotic that it lets people betray three times before being kicked. At the least all betrayals should result in an instant kick.

I think everybody can agree with that.

I agree. It's a silly fictional game, why must people insist on this one bit of reality? I seem to remember the option in Marathon of turning friendly fire on or off in LAN games. Off was a lot more fun. IF you want the game to have an air of reality then MLG and such is for you. In the rest of the casual playlists - turn the sucker off!
