I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

...just a piece of her armor that was connected and controlled by her neural interface implant when she suited up?

The Game Informer issue that released the first info on Noble team called it a "robotic prosthetic" so it seems it is attached to her. This is interesting because it seems more like part of the MJOLNIR suit itself, which to me makes more sense because of the difficulties of suiting her up and performing as it does in combat. If it is a prosthetic then she has part of her body exposed which could cause all sorts of issues with the vaccuum sealing and shielding tech. If it is indeed part of her body that means she technically has a part of MJOLNIR grafted to her.

I would think prostethic limb, that way it could be used outside of her armour.

It acts like a prosthetic but it is literally a part of her and her Mjolnir.

Her or her suit? It can't be both.

Might be. How else could you get her to control it. It must be inside her. (Don't make fun of the last sentence.)

Well we already know that there are functional prosthetic limbs in the Halo Universe, as seen in Contact Harvest. These are removable. My point is that it can either be attached to her and be sticking out of her suit (which would mean she has a MJOLNIR arm) or it is a part of the suit and when she is off duty she uses one of the the removable ones. It can't be part of the suit and her body, because they are two seperate things.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Wouldn't it be attached to her either way? The armor is attached to Kat, the arm is attached to the armor, the arm is attached to Kat? Is that how transitive properties work?

  • 08.19.2012 11:09 AM PDT

I would say it's part of the armor that clicks onto her neurological system to be controlled.

I'm wearing a t-shirt. It's not attached to me.

halopedia.

Unlike Kat's prosthetic arm which was permanent, Captain Ponder's was removable, consisting of titanium joints to replace fingers and a carbon-fiber weave of forearm "musculature"

The source of the info on the site is Halo: Contact Harvest. We have our answer. Thank you, Cmdr DaeFaron!

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

A combat prothestic I guess.

I still don't understand why she didn't get a flash clone. Heck, James had his hand burned off by plasma and had a replacement a few weeks later.

Maybe it can be detached/reattached with the suit?

Like if Kat's not wearing armor and has her arm on, she could just pop off her arm, suit up, then reattach the arm to the armor itself?

I always thought that it was a part of the armor itself. If it was part of her body then surely it would have the armor of the regular Mjolnir covering it as well? It seems like its part of the armor as it has its own pauldron and seems to be powered as well, presumably from the Mjolnir power source.

If anyone wants to get together and play some Marathon Durandal on the xbox contact me and we can work something out.

My guess is that its a piece of MJOLNIR grafted onto her as a prosthetic. as switch said.

Kat wasn't in Contact Harvest. That source is related to the removable prosthetic. There's actually no source to say that Kat's is permanent. Halopedia once again threw in an assumption as fact.

My thoughts exactly. The arm of her suit itself is clearly designed as part of MJOLNIR. That's why I'm saying that she probably uses a removable one when off duty and then doesn't need a prosthetic when suited up because the suit itself has the arm.

I think they already said it was a prosthetic. It makes sense that it is too. If something happens to her armor in the field and was required to remove it (for whatever reason, get off my back), it would not make much sense to have a one armed agent running around during a battle.

  • 08.20.2012 11:06 AM PDT

Part of the suit or not it's gonna be prosthetic, guys. That's what it is.

I think it's part of the suit though. She probably has an attachable limb when she's not suited.

Yeah, it doesn't look like it can be removed anyway (the arm).

Seriously, look at how it connects to her shoulder, IIRC it was a little too complex looking to just disconnect it. Hence why I think the halopedia statement fits, her arm is most likely a permenant replacement.

Yeah, but it looks like it is connected to the suit itself, not sticking out of it. That's hy I was saying that she wears a removable one when she isn't in the suit and then wears no prosthetic when she is because the arm replacement is built into the suit. A MJOLNIR arm is better than a normal prosthetic , and if she was wearing a prosthetic arm it would be inside the arm of her suit, not exposed.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

It is a prosthetic arm, so it is attached to her. I would think that her armor is probably modified shielding and seal-wise so as to allow for protection of her arm via the shields and to allow her to participate in operations that require a sealed environment.
