Or is it a forum program or something? Idk, about y'all but I think they really need to update it or something, for example, if I wanted to to talk about the famous motown singer Marvin G. I can't say his last name or else it turns out like this: "Man, I really do like some of that old Motown music, like Marvin -blam!-e"

Or the party that stood behind hitler. (It rhymes with Yahtzee), I mean we all get they were evil, but I don't see why it needs to be censored. What if I wanted to ask, "What is you favorite -blam!- Zombie map?"? Couldn't do it. Also, I think it's odd too because they were a part of history. I really can't see how people would take advantage of that word uncensored.

I'm not sure if this deserves a thread but I really think those two words kind off don't need to be censored. If you call someone's idea the G word, couldn't the ninjas just warn them or something for using it in a way to berate others?

tl;dr I wish I could say "Marvin -blam!-e"

I'm pretty sure they could, but I think it involves a difficult process.

They could, but it wouldn't be worth the time. We're still running on technology from 2004, for the webteam to go in and simply just add/edit a few words for the sake of what you're proposing would be less than ideal.

Besides, with a new website update right around the corner, I'm sure the webteam isn't worried about minor suggestions with this version of bungie.net.

Essentially this. I am sure it wouldn't take long to edit the list of banned words, but there is little reason to. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Bungie kept the current profanity filter for their next web update. If anything, I would expect them to add words, not subtract them.

I see. I thought it would be simple, guess, I'm wrong.

Welcome to the town of "Diligence." I'm Mayor Due.

It's pretty silly infact, because all of these words are screwed out of posts. It's not even a word filter so much as it is the blocking of these letters in consecutive order.
Included with your Marvin -blam!-e are also;

-blam!-le
A Southern Asiatic species of wild cattle (Bibos frontalis).

-blam!-wings
a trailing pink or white milkwort (Polygala paucifolia) found in the E U.S. and Canada

mar-blam!-
An American wild cat (Felis tigrina), ranging from Mexico to Brazil. It is spotted with black. Called also long-tailed cat.

nose-blam!-
A bunch of odorous and showy flowers; a bouquet; a posy.

And who doesn't like a good discussion on milkworts anyways?

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

I doubt they ever would.

I think Bungie can change it if they want to, but then there would be a lot of members posting a lot of bad words and other stuff on the forums.
They are just words, now stop classifying them as taboo.

I thought about it, but this thread is different.

But I guess doing that disrupt's the balance of the force so I will fix it.

The profanity filter isn't there to protect you.

The profanity filter is there because we don't care to see whatever string of expletives some of you string together and call "a coherent thought".

Very few things can be expressed with profanity that can't also be expressed better with proper language if you think about it properly.

Anybody can string a few bad words together, but not everyone can tell a good mom joke.

Posted by: Achronos
Or, you could learn to talk without cursing at every opportunity. Far be it for me to suggest that conversation actually happen here without listening to constant profanity of people with nothing better to say. And for the record, the M-rating is for the game, not the website. You guys are generally anything but mature.

Bungie controls everything. You have no rights. Play nice.

Bungie... I can't say -blam!-. Yes, that is actually an sh with a * and then a t. I typed it like that. Yet you sell shirts that contain exactly that on it.

Bungie, fix your -blam!-. This is a mature rated community.

Posted by: Achronos
Because I said so. You are free to go elsewhere if you don't like it. Bungie is not providing you a forum to spew profanity on, we provide it for you to talk about Bungie games and talk with the Bungie community.

I'm perfectly okay with you looking like an illiterate moron if you can't think of a way to express your ideas without profanity. :)

I can't say -blam!-.

What if I am talking about a -blam!- person?

I can't say -blam!--blam!- either!

I have to say "ghey" and "-blam!- se xual"

The word "-blam!-" being blocked? Why can we say "sex" then?

Posted by: Achronos
More to the point, most people here are not capable of using those words in a way that isn't inappropriate. Much like the name of a fascist party in Germany. There are plenty of places on the Internet to discuss such things. This is not one of them. We aren't trying to be all things to all people.

Posted by: True Underdog
Posted by: OdhananNot to sound like an illiterate moron or anything, but this word , or that word , for that matter, actually are not "profanity", and really shouldn't be considered as such, IMO. I think the filter is a bit too draconian at times, and censures words which actually would be useful in some conversations.

Not that I claim to have rights or anything. Just my point of view on the matter. I know the filters are set with the lowest common denominator in mind, and sometimes, it actually sucks for those of us who would like to use these words in non-inflamatory, appropriate conversations, given context.

Often times, when discussed in the appropriate context, the thread itself probably doesn't belong in the mains in the first place and should be discussed in The Black Chapter or any other private group you feel like posting about it in.

I agree with you, to an extent, but them's the breaks.
