I think a replay system would be a cool feature to put into Halo 3. This would let a person review their performance in multyplayer and see what they did right and wrong. It would work just like any replay on sports games. You would be able to fast forward to any part of the match. If a player wanted to show of something to his friends, he would be able to record a clip of up to 15 seconds of gameplay and send it to a friend. This might turn into players spamming their friends with videos, but this could be prevented by allowing a player to send only one video a day.
If I recall correctly, in a very early preview of Halo 2 by Official Xbox Megazine, the writer of the article was talking about spotting a screen that said something like "replays". He saw this while touring Bungie Studios. This could mean that Bungie was thinking about putting this into Halo 2, but decided not to. They might have left this out because the original Xbox couldnt handle it or somethin like that.

Although this would be a bit far fetched, another cool option would be a "movie maker" gametype. This would be an awesome addition for any Halo movie makers. In this gametype one player would be the camera man. The camera man would be able to fly and hover anywhere. His fly and hover capabilities would allow him to get awesome angles. This player would have no HUD, except for a "record" and "stop" symbol.
This gametype would also have some cool options such as Allowing you to have up to 15 vehicles in a game, which could make for some sweet movies.
After the filming is done, the camera man would go to an "edit film" screen where he could add or get rid of certain parts of the film. Once everything is edited, all the actors and camera man could save the movie onto their hard drives, and send it to their friends. People could also then use a capture card to put it onto their computer.

Tell me what you think.

Very good idea.

Also some kind of Halo3 tv thing - like with PGR3 TV - that allows you to tune in and see when the pros are on ,this would be awesome.

i love people that come up with new unique ideas

i hope this thread takes off, as far as i know this has never been suggested

i always wanted to be able to capture video but never wanted to get all the equipment, i mean think about it, Xbox 360 comes WIndows Media Player Enabled or at least there is a button for it on the limited edition remote control.

Great idea, i think they could make this work and definitly increase the Longevity of the game, if everyone is making videos everyone will stay interested in it for a much longer time

A replay system would slow the game down. No one wants to watch the match they just played...they just played it, people can remember what happens longer than most think, i swear. I would want to just play a new round.

I think replay options would be a bad thing.

if you can't tell what you did wrong while actually playing the game, there's no hope for you

i think that the video capturing idea is a little better than the replay idea

but i think people dont really get the replay idea

the replay is a choice, not something that happens at the end of every game, if im reading this guys idea properly

Freakin hiarious siggy, by the way.

Still, it would slow the flow of things down. It would be semi-cool for like a week, then just really annoying.

Yea i thought of that... their would have to be some sort of anti spam function, such as only allowing a player to send his friends one video a day.

but they could have an option to view the other players and what they were doing

You could have the option to "record game". Which would let you play it all back after you had finished the match, maybe there are 2-3 angles to watch from, as well as watching the same thing you did from the begining of the game from First-Person.

[Edit]
The recorded game would be DLed to your Hard drive. So people wouldn't lag so much. Like for important clanmatches, after the match, it would take a few minutes to DL and then you could go on with your gaming.

I really like this idea. I think it might be a good idea to see different modes of implementation too.

Like, you have a menu with you in game, that allows you to do different things. You can choose to follow any character from a first or third person perspective, or go down on to the map as a character (obviously not as part of the game, just as a ghost observer) to observe firsthand. you would be able to pause, rewind, and fast forward. also, there should be certain alerts that you could activate, like when a character arrrives at a certain point (to see when people camp), when someone gets kills, when someone dies, when someone kills a certain person. You know, kind of like post game statistics, cept you're alerted to each thing in game when it happens.

The video thing might be cool, but the replay thing would be a waste of time

This would be kind of like the gameviewer, only in video

  • 06.26.2006 6:16 PM PDT

if you check your stats and click games played it will show you the games you played so you would be able to review them

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Sounds neat..I say save all the videos on your hard drive, and it will allow you to send the video with friends on your friends list, only you cannot "message all friends" with it..only single persons at a time..then they auto-delete after another game, unless you permanently save them?
