I like the orginal dropships because of you could shoot enemies before they mount off the ship and the grunts start running around trying to get back to the dropship.

I think they should, but also add the phantom. Like the dropship is faster, but cares less troops, and the phantom cares more troops and is slow. All turrets are destructable.

Phantom was stupid. It made no sense that the soldiers would float down .
It was much more realistic when the dropship brought them down and they got out.
And if in halo 3 the ships are more destroyable than that would add new strategy to the game.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

The best was when you drive a hog into just as the doors opened to let them out. It was total smashism.

Those without swords can still die upon them.

Both designs are stupid realistically. Either have your troops exposed on both sides of the vehicle while disembarking, or drop them through the air in the open. Idiotic Covenant engineers.

The whole feel and play of the classic dropship just felt so much more alien and unique.

It really made the game have a unique feel when you saw this rediculous looking y shaped alien ship pop down and drop aliens from both sides (this always allowed for at least one half of the ship dropping in and making it in where as with the new dropship I often find myself unchallenged by merely tossing nades onto the one spot where the forces come through.

It would be kinda neat to see the rebellious anti covie units (elites, hunters, etc. Using the old ships due to them being deprived of the official covie equipment.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Regardless of what we all think the Phantom is coming back regardless!

The original dropships were weak and slow.

1 turret or 3 turrets
Have to hover low or high?
Able to come and go in a flash or move slowly

The Phantoms are more of a threat; troops disembark much faster (not having to go inches above the ground helps), had multiple turrets that spit out fire (causing you to keep your head down while they drop), and can move quite fast.

There is no reason to go back to old tech.

And to whoever criticized the lift of being foolish, I think it is quite superior to the other option. On Delta Halo when you get your warthog from the Pelican, remember how long it takes for a Pelican to land close enough to the ground to have men and vehicles disembark. Two or Three Phantom waves could drop and go in the amount of time it takes a Pelican to land. This isn't a big deal in the Halo-game universe, since dropships are invincible; if dropships were destructable, then I'd stick with a Phantom, thank you.

Yah know what? That's a really good idea. The rebels would be trying to get whatever equipment they could get their hands on, and the older dropships would be more common among the rebels. The Elites would probably have some of the newer, swankier dropships, to be sure, but the tuning forks would probably be more prevelant.
