The only thing lacking from Halo 2 was it's lack of a True Optimatch, (& online Co-op, but thats another story for another time.)

Well, the lack of such a feature has kept me from playing Halo 2 as much as I used to. This my friends is a very bad thing. Every other Xbox Live Enabled game has an OPTIMATCH. (& NO HALO 2 Does NOT have a REAL Optimatch.) A True Optimatch allows you to search for max # of players, map, gametype, allow voice or not ect.

When my buddies are offline (b/c of work ect), there is nobody to game with. Sure I play unranked games, but then you play w/ people who quit as soon as they see the map & gametype. A optimatch would solve this. Why? Well b/c then people would be playing maps & gametypes that they actually like. I'm like slayer, but I'm a CTF guy at heart. My time is important to me, so I spend 98% of my gaming time hoping that I get a CTF game.

You might say why not just play rank? Well, playing rank is just silly. Rank means nothing, all it means is that you play ranked matches way more than anybody else. Who's to say a lvl 1 cannot beat a lvl 40? Anyways when you reach the high 20s or mid 30s you cannot play a legit game anyways.

So I say Halo 3 could include a real "Optimatch," & keep Matchmaking for Ranked games, or get rid of Ranked games (levels), thus eliminating cheating as we know it. Some of you people might say, "If you remove ranked then nobody will play Halo 3 as much as Halo 2."
If your one of those people then you my friend are a moron. I'll tell you why. Only 10% of Xbox 1 owners have Xbox Live. More than 50% of Xbox 360 owners have Xbox Live. So do the math. When Halo 3 comes out there will be around 5x as many Halo 3 players than Halo 2 players as soon as it comes out. So some may argue, "well people will lose interests(sp?) in Halo 3 if it does not have a Ranking System." I say that would be untrue, however Halo 3 will probably use the TRUESKILL Ranking System (look it up) for it's Matchmaking, which I'm absolutely fine with, as long as Halo 3 has a True Optimatch. That way all the braggers ect can play ranked games w/ the Bridgers, modders, standbyers, boosters ect, & people like me can play fair, fun, legit games of our choice. Heck, I could host my own room & people could find it & join it (like every other Live game except Halo 2), & if somebody is cheating or glitching, guess what? I'll just boot em' out of my room/game.

If I was a betting man, I'd say Halo 3 will use the TRUESKILL Ranking System(for ranked games in matchmaking), & also have a True Optimatch that would allow gamers to find other gamers custom games. So it's a win-win for everybody.-Peace

It's kinda hard to check those numbers considering you pulled them out of your ass.

I belive these features are embeded into the 360. I have the premium but don't have the starter kit yet but I know for sure H3 will have it.

They should get rid of rank completely. Halo Pc was, and still is, a wonderful game and it has no ranking system. It wouldn't matter if people modded because you would have nothing to lose. Modding was a "Good" Thing in pc, it was fun to play with a modder every now and then. Now it is "Oh -blam!- -blam!- Ass Nooblets" when you see one. Unfortunate Really.

I am one of the 50% without Live.

Doing Math on made up numbers. Hilarious

And as far as it being "widely know." That's another good one. I've never seen those stats.

Just because you've seen it posted does NOT make the stats accurate. I am posting that the stats are actually mor like 15% and more that 60%. Does that make them accurate? No, don't believe everything you read unless its from a reliable source like Bungie or Micorsoft themselves

Well I'm glad to see you guys are so sure of yourselfs. I mean you can never be wrong if you genuinely believe what you say right? You can choose to believe the stats I provived or choose not to. Unlike most of the people on these forums now, I do not sign in to make up lies. What I say is true. They are not my opinions which you can disagree with all you want, the provided stats are FACT, thus making them true. 10% of xbox 1 owners have Live, more than 50% of 360 owners have LIVE. It's true. So logically Halo 3 will have way more players (on LIVE) than Halo 2 ever has. I'm not trying to cause a fuss, just providing the readers of this thread the truth, sorry if anybody had their feelings hurt.:(

As for the source, go out & buy the Official Xbox 360 Handbook thingy. It's from the editors of OXM. The stats are in the article about how Online gaming is growing, the Playstation HUB service among other things.-Peace

I totally agree with you. However your wasting your time telling me this, as I know Bungie does not listen to it's fans for ideas. They have there own agenda, as they should b/c you nor I work for them.-Peace

Come on kid, every one knows that theres more to this equation than just the numbers you've provided. Even if they were fact, which I'm not saying they are or not, here's something to consider. For every xbox 360 owner, there are over 100 xbox owners. Simple as to why, it hasn't been out as long, it's only been widely available since about April everywhere, so it hasn't seen a christmas yet while it is been widely available, and because the 360 is much more expensive then what the original xbox is.

Ok, so lets say there are 1,000,000 360 owners. 100 * 1,000,0000 = 100,000,000 oringinal xbox owners. Now you can take your percentages. 100,000,000 * 10% = 10,000,000. 1,000,000 * 50% = 500,000.

10,000,000 > 500,000 last time I checked.

If you want to argue that when the 360 sells as many original xbox that it will then have more people on xbox live, then I can see that it might. However I can gaurantee you that by the time 360 sells that amount, the statistics of who has live, and who doesn't, will be much more closer to 10% than 50%

Halo 2 has the best MM. No other game compares to the ease in Halo 2. So what you can't play a level over and over again. You see, BF2 failed at that because everyone wants BACKSTAB. Which is pretty lame compared to other maps. Not only that, the Xbox's talk to each other and gives you a game that isn't totally laggy. It finds a game based on criteria, connection; level. In Ghost Recon 2, you find a game thats laggy, or you play against some hardcore people that -blam!- you every time. Halo 2, after some time, put people in a generally acceptable place. People of the same skill with same connection.

So no, Halo 3 should stay the same as Halo 2. Although, if Bungie bought some servers...

First off in a true optimatch you get a list of the best games/hosts. You also get connection bars. Red=Terrible, Orange=Laggy, Yellow=Descent, Green= No Lag/Great.

As for the stat issue, you people are putting too much thought into it. Not everyone who owns a Xbox 1 has Xbox Live. Why? Well, b/c Broadband is not as mainstream as 56k. Just like not everyone has a HD T.V. & not everyone who owns a T.V. has a Satellite Dish. Hence- 10% of Xbox owners have LIVE. Lets not forget Xbox LIVE comes right out of the box(Silver Account) when you purchase a Xbox 360. Everyone who has a Xbox 360 right now are more than likely true hardcore Xbox fans who could'nt wait for a price drop ect. Also those same hardcore fans also more than likely had a Gold Live account & transfered it over to their 360. Hence- more than 50% of Xbox 360 owners have LIVE.

I've said all I'm going to say about the stat issue. Either take my word for it, or read the article in the magazine listed a few posts above. I'm here to inform people, & post ideas ect, not to mislead them & break the rules like most of the whiners & haters who unfortunately made accounts the day H2 came out. I cannot & will not try to change peoples minds. Why? Well b/c thats impossible. My original post was about how H3 needs a true optimatch. It seems like some people like to get off topic & argue over the internet. Now if you guys have something nice to say or want to add to the thread w/ meaningful posts then please do so. Thank you.-Peace

rank is the only thing that kept Halo 2 alive for sooooooo long.

without rank, halo 3 would die just like PDZ did

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

This idea would actually ruin most of Halo 2, everyone will crowd to certain maps...rendering all other maps (and matchmaking) useless. Keep it Matchmaking, and Customs..but add in Campaign (for people on your friends list, or Clan)..and add a new feature, called "Survival Mode" which would be like a custom game, but not standard...

find out more about Survival mode, here.

This is what Im saying. A True Optimatch would allow gamers to find & choose which custom games to join based on their search criteria, & would allow them to see if the game is laggy or not before joining. Lets say you join a room w/ Hardcore players & get handled, all you gotta do is leave that room & join another one. Whats so hard. Your enjoyment of the game would be up to you. Wanna play 1 Flag on Waterworks? Search for it. Didn't find a match? Create your own room. People who are not on your friends list could then join if you want them too. Lets not forget, that on the 360 you can invite players that you had played w/ earlier that day or week.

The TrueSkill Ranking System would still be there for the ones who want to go into MatchMaking & get matched up w/ players of similiar skill ect just like now w/ Halo 2. The only difference between Halo 3s MM & Halo 2s MM would be how exp points are determined.

It's a win-win situation for all Halo players. BTW Halo 2 Ranking/Lvls is not the reason why it's still played as much as it is. It's played by as many people as it is b/c it's the best D4mn FPS on Xbox right now. Heck, forget FPS, it's the best game on Xbox right now. Also I find it hard to believe that people have stayed w/ Halo 2 for as long as they have due to rank. Whats so fun about getting modded, bridged, standbyed, ect? Exactly, not much fun is it? Thats why I hardly ever play ranked. I'd much rather play team training ect. When I play GRAW, guess what? I do not play ranked. It's quite silly to play ranked anyways. Are you going to put your lvl on your next job resume. "Lets see you have no H.S. diploma, no car, Oh wait I see your a lvl 49 in Halo 2, that settles it then your hired!!!"

So for the people who love to play games for fun, & have little time to play due to things called "responsibilities," why not have a True Optimatch? I'm still left in the dark as to why Halo 2 does not have one. Even the most horrible of Xbox games has one. I'm certain Halo 3 will have one. To the guy who mentioned Halo PC, they are right too. If a game needs Lvls/Ranking to be good, then that game really isn't all that great to start with. Can you say Halo 1. Last I checked over 5 million bought that game. Did it have a Ranking system? Umm no. When I host LANs we still occasionally pop in Halo 1 for some good ol' nostalgic Halo goodness.-Peace

seriously, you're coming to this argument pretty late. This has been said countless times. Heck, there have been posts about this since Halo 3. Reiterating it the way you did, in a completely incoherent manner, with statistics and logic that dont at up. is the exact wrong way to go about this. Seriously, organise your thoughts, and make a better presentation.

By the way, I do agree with the general idea of your post, I just feel that you are going about it the wrong way.
