A poster in the Flood Forum recently brought this up, and I'm actually quite curious about how something like this hasn't been put into action.

The ability to Ignore/Block the posts of other users on this site. I'm not saying that it would be an easy thing to implement, but overall I think it would enforce a user-friendly environment. That options would allow you to ignore a certain user posts so that we can ignore a Troll and not have to deal with them when the Mods aren't around. The Trolls post will simply be hidden in the same way the a reported post is hidden.

So let's say you go into a thread and see a post of a User you ignored. You can always open it up and see what they had to say, but at least you will be able to recognize that that person had done something, and that you can be prepared for whatever danger you might face.

I just want to see what your opinion is of this.

Note: This would be useful in case with people like John Cena.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Sure, if you see the person whom you want to ignore, don't read what they have to say. I mean I know what you are saying, but it isn't really necessary if you can simply skip over their posts.

I have been in support for this for the longest time. Like I've already said in the other thread and threads before this, I already use scripts to achieve that goal. However, I do believe that it would be beneficial to have the option integrated with the site.

You're missing the point though. When you have a post that covers 90% of the page, you aren't just going to want to sit there and deal with it. Reporting usually takes a while... So overall I just think it would be easier if we had this.

Then you should avoid those threads. And if by some chance the Flood is under a spam attack, go somewhere else for a while.

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

This, look at that spammer posting "Permaban me" several times. It is an eyesore and makes scrolling through the thread more tedious. It would be a handy tool for when such people as spammers are online.

Doesn't change the fact that the content is still on the screen (thus, it is seen) when it doesn't have to be.

Key

I'm all for customization, etc. and poster's "rights" to a customizable forum experience, and I don't have any idealistic problems with this idea. I just think that it's a stupid thing to do. As stupid as you may think some posts are, if they're stupid enough other people will reply to them and then you will be missing out on conversation, etc.

I don't see a good way to execute this feature.

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

This comes up to much.

No, because it is effectily removing someones input. I think what we currently have works fine.

And? I already skip over a few users' posts, so an implemented system would merely make what I already do easier.

You make it sounds like it's a blacklist (which removes posts from everybody's view) when it's not. The only "removal" will be for the user who has made the decision that they no longer wish to read a particular user's posts any more (for whatever reason that may be).

Also, why is there a problem with wanting to remove someone's input? It's not as if you can force someone to read your posts. If they don't want to they're not going to.

No it's really not, as has already been pointed out.

Sure. Though it's a shame moderators can never make real use of the system, lest they not be able to moderate well.

I just don't see what the point of it is, to be honest. It's like if you didn't like looking at the Most Saved threads on the right side or the Bungie.net Community Forum ad over there--> and then wanted a feature to disable stuff on the right side of the page, even though you could just not look at it. Honestly, it's not like it's school or work where you have to actually interact with people.

A forum essentially works like school or work or real life, but you can only hear people if you were currently looking at and focusing on them, therefore making people you dislike effectively mute. Sure, you have to look at them standing there, but if you need to have an invisibility cloak to throw over people to supplement this amazing power you now possess to quiet whoever you want then you are beyond the help of this invisibility cloak you think you need.
