Sure it would be "kool" but it wouldnt work.. how long would all tihs take? by this time people will line up where you gonig to land a blow you away very quickly. and spawning with weapons? how lame almost every other game out there has that. '

Your average re-spawn takes about three to five seconds anyways, sometimes longer in objective based games. If you immediately started down in the drop pod it'd amount to the same amount of time. Secondly, there's nothing stopping the pod from kicking up a lot of dust and the pod gives you one thing you've never had before when spawning out in the open- cover! You could duck behind the pod. (Think Coagulation)

As for spawning with weapons... as an idea and that every game has that... *blinks* ... I've never spawned in Halo without weapons before... have you?

I've spawned with SMG, which is pretty useless.
You should spawn with a good all-around weapon, such a the Pistol from Halo 1. This would put emphasis back on having skill rather than having a bigger gun.

I think the BR would be better than a pistol if they got rid of the auto aim..

It's a cool idea but that's it. In your head it's neat, but in a game it would suck. What would you do, hold X to make the weapon come down? Seems a bit overly complicated. As far as spawning goes, they'd have to find ways to integate it into EVERY map or else it would seem wierd. You could just nade pods, you'd get used to seeing them come down, spawin killing would be a breeze. You'd know where to look 3 seconds before they hit, cover or not. Not to mention it'd be very annoying to have to deal with it 2 years down the line. This is one of those things that ONLY works well in your head, once you try to apply it, it would end up sucking. A gimmick, it woulnd't enhance MP at all.

One person in this thread said that a 3 second invincibility would be a good idea....problem solved no (immediate) spawn killing and i agree with the people saying that the drop pods would get annoying. maybe if bungie had a invasion or survival mode against AI, then it would'nt be so annoying.

Yo. People. Its called modding. You can already do all the listed above stuff in Halo2.

Oh and pie tastes good.

I have a rendezvous with death. At some disputed barricade.

Very, very interesting...

Personally I love the idea of being placed into the combat situation by a Pelican or a HEV it gives it a more realistic feel (Yes, I am a Role Playing fanatic and a writer so don't flame me for enjoying a little campaign in Multiplayer).

As for combating the Spawn Camping V Slow Spawn problem, what's to say that you're GOING to be camped because they can see where you spawn. I mean did you even use your brain. How can a sniper pick you off if you have just fallen thousands of metres in a ball of fire crashed into the ground sending dirt flying up into the air and kicked down the door of the pod... If you can head shot me with all that going on, not to mention the other people on my team trying to kill YOU as the Spawn Camping sniper, (Or if your as lucky as I normally am and get some retard 12 year old team killer) I will give you a medal. Don't believe me? Watch the cut scene at the beginning of 'Delta Halo', IM-POS-SIBLE!

And as for the Elite drop pod... The back-round of the pod is WHITE stark WHITE have you ever tried sniping them in campaign? And they always come out crouched, just to make it harder!

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

It wouldn't work for the shorter spawn times (3 or 5 seconds) because you need at least a second to look and think 'crap, i'm dead.' Then wait to respawn. But with dropping in i imagine it would be a few seconds falling through the air, then hitting the ground, blasting the door, jumping out. It would be a very quick think to try and fit that all in in 3 or even 5 seconds.

Its a nice idea, but then like someone pointed out, it wouldn't work on indoor maps. So then you would have different systems of spawning and it would get to be a inconsistant game experience.

I honestly do like the idea, and perhaps for some big, war or persistent world combat area it would be pretty cool. But for practically fitting it into the halo gameplay we know now? i don't think it would work.

Did anyone play halo 2? That's what happens on Delta Halo, the pelican drops of pods of single weapons, six or seven at a time, so this is already plausible

I wouldn't mind it for weapons, but it would be horrendous for player spawns. Don't get me wrong, it sounds cool, but if you made a list of what it adds to the multiplayer gameplay versus what problems it creates in multiplayer gameplay, the latter would win by a hefty margin.

That's a great idea. The Elites could use the purple coffin-lookin' pods they use in campaign, too. But after a while it would just be like a maze of HEV's and Elite pods, which is also a cool idea. Adds suspense.

i like the weapons raining down in pods, thats just awesome, as it'd also give everybody a heads up. i think it would make for some interesting encounters.

as many others have said, you as a player really wouldnt want that kind of attention drawn to you when you spawned. campers are here to stay. but i do like the idea of the pelican droping players off, perhaps with a .50 cal, to clear the drop area and provide cover while players unload. this should help a bit with spawn camping

maybe even for more elaborate multiplayer games, an entire team, or atleast a certain number of members would have to die before respawning in this fashion.

or less likely, but entertaining to think about, people spawning in warthogs/scorpions/horses mounted with .50cal's being droped. that would be very interesting and entertaining to think about.

Sounds ok, but what about vehicle spawns that are under something, such as the hog spawn in Terminal. I prefer the old fashioned warping in. Maybe just a new effect such as the shield flicker?
