I have a challenge for you. You won't be able to google the answer. It will take more than several moments to solve.
First of all, let's refer to the rebuild of our happy home as "Bungie.next." When you say "New Hawtness," Achronos murders a kitten.
My challenge to you is to demonstrate that you have the staying power to remain a citizen of the Bungie Community. We hope you will succeed. I will be cheering you on the whole way. To accomplish this, you will need to exhibit patience, open-mindedness, and the ability to withstand change.
Ever since I seized control of this gaming society, I have truly enjoyed getting to know our most stalwart fans. I understand that some of you are still here because you have learned to call this website home. Others of you see this place as a means to end - the end being the goldrush into our next game.
I see in many of you the iron-clan core of the community that will play our next game. The leaders of the larger player-base that will flock to our next release are right here on this forum. For this, you will be rewarded. I am paying attention.
Having led Internet gaming communities for a number of years, I am well aware that change results in attrition - as well as growth. For every thousand new faces that flock to a new game, there is a valuable veteran who retires with honors. I have seen gamers fade away and disappear because they couldn't adapt to a new Halo game. I have watched as gamers left their clan because it started to play another franchise altogether. Change is hard. Being a vanguard requires flexibility and cunning on many levels.
Because the gaming industry is always evolving, a gamer must also be willing to evolve. I have seen this argument met with rage and scorn on this very forum. Bungie's next game will be a major spoke in that cycle of growth. Bungie.next will be the first hurdle in the new race. Despite my best efforts to bring all of you along, I know that some of you will become lost in the migration.
I do hope you make the trek. It's best to keep in mind the fact that your first glimpse of Bungie.next will be as a test audience. Our new battle station will evolve from there, with your help. Also, remember that we are designing a website to support a game that you have yet to see. That is the real prize - the new means to the new end.
Follow me.
Love,
DeeJ
