Co-op will answer your questions.

Also could have saved Cpt. Keyes life.

Just like in Reach, they would have been split in two teams to cover more terrain, she would have been with Keyes, saved him from the flood and who knows.

She would have died in the lifeboat crash.

How do you know that?
Also, consider the fact that, if she was active during the Halo event, she might have not of gotten on the lifeboat, she could have still been on the Pillar of Autumn when Keyes took manual control and crashed it on the Halo ring.
Read this.

Personally, I think she'd survive.

What a waste....

I always imagined the co-op Spartan was Linda.

....spongy, bungie, who cares? I got mine!

Well since my gf always played/plays Halo CEA and Halo CE with me, I just pretend she's Linda...

With a manly in game voice.

Of course she'd survive if she were in an escape pod. The Chief did so I see no reason as to why she wouldn't.

All I can say for sure is that they would be unconscious a lot longer. :P

It'd be pretty interesting having to fight an army of Covies at the beginning with her. In fact, I think I'd like to mod that into the campaign just to see how badass it would be.

If Linda did join the Chief then they might not have been in the same life boat. Who knows, she could've gotten on board another one and crashed the same way the boat the Chief was in did and then you meet up with her later on in the level Halo. It would work for both single player and multiplayer where the second player would play as Linda and hold off the Covenant that are surrounding the downed life boat whilst the first player, who is playing as the Chief, has to get to her. Like at the beginning of Halo 3: ODST when you're playing 4 player Co-Op Campaign, each player starts somewhere else a distance apart from one another.

Go for it I say xD If you did do that then I would love to see the outcome.

Yeah I suppose that's true. That'd make more sense.

Well I did some searching yesterday and it's one heck of an encounter to find. I might have to ask about it. It's already a pain in the ass to find just the marine encounters (I would have died if I had done this). Now imagine looking for a single Grunt encounter. It's hell.

As for Linda, there might be a way to get the Spartan AI to follow me using Custom Edition console commands...

Science.

Care to elaborate? The Chief survived. Is he somehow unaffected by the laws of physics?

If I had to conjecture, it would be because Chief and Linda would be simultaneously bouncing around the pod... probably wouldn't work out well for either of them.
