Subject: Why is that Thread still there?

These threads are all idiotic. Clearly they're still active because there has not been a ninja who's come across it, had a problem with it, found it unlawful, and wanted to do something about it. Also, whining rarely works.

Next time, just report and PM a mod if you think it goes against the forum rules (even though it doesn't).
Marriage is technically religious.
Maybe in Medieval Times... but I'm not getting into this.

Personally, I like those threads. It's usually composed of kids trying to defend their argument against same sex marriage, but failing miserably.

Not anymore.

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

Posters may be breaking the rules; hell, the OP may be breaking the rules. But the thread itself doesn't, at least in the opinion of the moderators who've seen it.

You're the one who had to go and taddle about it.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

Moderator bias. Simple as that. I can go deeper into this, but I really really don't feel like arguing with people in "this" forum right now...

Clearly you have no bias of your own, especially when it comes to the people in "this" forum.

This guy has been trying for YEARS to get this guy to admit to just one thing.

Neither of them see it.

Relax, they aren't all pony related.

...which can't really be said about my Deviant Art Page however.

Here we go again with what? The fact that moderators don't moderate with equal standards? What's so hard to understand about that?

Moderation on these forums is incredibly random. I can make a violating thread and either get a warning from Foman, a 3-day ban from evilcam, or a 14-day ban from Recon. There's no definite answer to what moderation measure would be used in my situation. Hell, someone could just lock the thread and not hand me any punishment.

I know I'm gonna start a whole unnecessary -blam!-storm with this reply, but I think it's about time to get this off my chest.

I don't see why you needed to keep it on your chest.

You just accurately described how things work. Foman, Evilcam and I are 3 different people, we see things differently, we act differently, we respond differently. That's a fact.

You're not like any other member of this site either. You post how YOU post, not "like" anyone else.

That's not random, that is diverse. If you can't handle diversity, the Internet is a scary place.

Exactly. That answers the OP's question on why the thread wasn't removed right away. Someone had a different opinion on whether or not it should stay alive.

(edit) That's what I mean by bias. One mod will do what another mod wouldn't. In my personal opinion, that doesn't really work in most people's advantages.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I like how there is differences in moderation and not everything is set in stone.

If you feel there is an issue, you can contact other mods or an admin to help if you have a disagreement with one mod.

People make mistakes or someone tolerable to one person may not be to another. I think since the rules have updated there has been a lot less banning and it has been better.

Exactly.

And that is how our hosts want it. They have a diverse team, all entrusted and all who respect and trust each other to make decisions that are "right from their perspective" and be able to explain and justify their reasoning.

If they tried to make a team of clones, it would fail miserably and people would be complaining about micro-differences.

In your scenario...Moderation on these forums is incredibly random. I can make a violating thread and either get a warning from Foman, a 3-day ban from evilcam, or a 14-day ban from Recon. There's no definite answer to what moderation measure would be used in my situation. Hell, someone could just lock the thread and not hand me any punishment.
The issue isn't the fact that 3 moderators might react in 3 different ways. The issue is that you decided to make a violating thread. That's the problem. If you make the choice to violate the rule, you should accept any and all outcomes of it (none, mild, harsh, unreasonable). YOU are the one who creates the situation, complaining that the outcome isn't homogeneous is silly.

Personally, I find the distinctions between each of the mods the very factor that makes the moderation team so great. If one had one opinion, and a different mod another, there is no lull in communication between it and fixing a problem.

Besides if a thread is harmful enough to actually cause major disruption within the community then there seems to be no difference in how fast action is taken, only in what action is taken. Either way what right have we to complain about a matter that has been dealt with properly?

Honestly, if every mod was required to follow "If X happens, then the proper action is always B," what room would that leave for OUR individuality as a community?

On topic, who cares? hasn't the issue been resolved?

It's because people actually want to discuss this. It's a real issue and it's not necessarily a political one as much as it is a human rights one. For the most part people can behave themselves.

Also, if you're going to make a complaint thread about people flaming and bullying on -blam!- rights threads, try not to be the problem next time.

I rest my case.

And where in THIS thread did I do that? Instead of worrying about the past, let's worry about now. I didn't act up like that like I did in the previous thread. However you're seem to be more concerned about what used to be posted over what currently (or no longer is) posted.

I'm pretty sure I could do the same thing to you if the post history was long enough, so trying to drown me with skeletons that aren't even in my closet is useless.

But I'm not the one posting threads being hypocritical about it.

This forum copping needs to end. It's not like the Earth will implode if one thread that might be considered to be against the rules gets through. I don't come here for forum politics--I come here to pick other people's brains. As long as it's not links to meatspin or shock sites, I don't care.

And it's not like the mods are here 24/7 365, just waiting to lock threads and throw out bans. And people like you and me are in no position to call them out. It's their job to take care of these things.

I'm not looking for a fight (it's hard to interpret emotions through text, so I thought I'd clarify), just tired of people acting like it really matters. Let's just ease off the banhammer and enjoy each other's opinions.

Opinions don't always lead to friendliness. When you took a gander at my previous posts, what made the people I were quoting any more justified? Some opinions are better left in quiet. I admit what I said earlier was wrong, that was more to vent off steam from seeing three different threads on the matter stay at the top and all have the same content. However, it also proves a perfect example that it doesn't matter if it's political or not (and it is), The Flood can not handle it.
