Halo 2.

Best campaign (not level design! Although it is nice and varied in terms of locations, it is far too linear at times).
Best story.
Best maps
Most fun multiplayer.
Most importantly for multi: even with its flaws (which made for epic custom games!) it was great. There was an actual community. People actually communicated for instance.

H2 is a perfect example of a game that, yes, is flawed but where the result is bigger and better than the sum of all its parts.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Halo 3: ODST. It had a great campaign, Firefight was fun, and it came with the complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience. It was also home to the Halo: Reach Beta. I love all of the other ones almost as much, but they lack in small areas.

Halo 2, definitely not Halo 3.

1. CE

2. H3 - I've done, observed, and found a lot of things in this game more than in any other Halo campaign. It was my most played Halo game. If I can't give it first place, I might as well give it second. Plus, I like to stealth a whole bunch of AI. Reminds me of Silent Cartographer.

3. H2 - over the months, I have come to realize a lot of encounters are like Reach (or it could just be the mostly linear approaches). Positioning is a limited approach and I'd have liked there to be more creative options. Nonetheless, I haven't forgotten my H2 LASO days, my Heretic AI collection, or when I got 60 Councilors to fight Tartarus.

I don't like the vehicle physics or the checkpoint system in this game but I still play it (though not for strategies anymore. Nobody seems to need them :/).

4. ODST

5. Reach - worst encounters ever, cheating enemies, worthless allies, player model sucks, weapons are underpowered, lolphysics, lame story
