At the end of First Strike, five Spartans are still alive: John (Master Chief), Fred, Will, Linda, and Kelly. Kelly was abducted by Dr. Halsey and taken to an unknown location. However, the remaining four Spartans are all on the Gettysburg with Cortana and Johnson heading back to Earth. It makes no sense to me how when Halo 2 starts, Master Chief is again the only Spartan that you see. Where did Fred, Linda, and Will go? Maybe to other orbital MAC guns to defend them? All I know is that at the begining of Halo 2 and throughout all the rest of the game, the location of the three spartans is never even mentioned, but we can only assume they're still alive. Because of this, I see no reason why these three Spartans wouldn't be in Halo 3. I also, think it's perfectley possible that the blue lights blinking from the inside of Master Chief's helmet in the trailer are acknowledgement light from the other Spartans in his team.

This is the plot hole you may have heard about...unless Halo3 can explain what the hell happened...

Hmm. It's what everyone's debating. I'm not sure. It would be fun tho, for squad combat. And also there are two or three other SPARTANS that were never on Reach in the first place that are still active besides the ones at the end of First Strike.

to no offense to you or others, but....

you should try to tell us something we don't know...

Halo's a hell of a drug.

Also in the books they mentioned that the Spartans hardly ever saw each other because they were split up all the time. Maybe they were immediately split up when they reached Earth.

If they do put other spartans in the game, a halo fan that has never read the books will be left in the dark. So no, there won't be spartans in the game.

You're right, it is a huge plot hole. But I also agree with Ray that it might mess it up for people who haven't read the books. Maybe you wouldn't actually fight with them in the game, they would just be acknowledged as existing.

I think it would be cool if you met up with all 4 of them and fought together just for the final level.

The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

I really don't see how its a plot hole. We have no idea how much of a gap there is between the end of First Strike and Halo 2. In that time they could have been sent on other missions or been on the surface of Earth. We will just have to wait until "Ghosts of Coral" is released which may explain what they did.

A quick note:

There are approximately 5 weeks between when Master Chief and the other Spartans jump into slipspace toward Earth and when we find master chief alone in the begining of halo 2

Just because it was going to take 5 weeks to get back to Earth does not mean Halo 2 starts exactly when they get to Earth. For one thing at the start of Halo 2 they were having a commendation ceremony for the Chief, which would have to taken some time to prepare for. He would have first had to be debriefed, then the story would have to be analyed before a commendation would be given. I would think there is at least a week in between arriving back at Earth and the start of Halo 2.

actually it only took them 35 hours to get back to Earth. What I meant was there was a 5 week gap between first strike and halo 2 where anything could have happened.

And there is the fact that Bungie has not declared the books part of the games storyline.

I know of more plot-holes. In The Fall of Reach, James loses his left arm in thier first encounter with a Hunter. Then a couple pages later, James salutes the MC with his left hand. Funny stuff, lol.

lights = reflection

and, if you read all the books thouroughly then you know there is another entire group of spartans that were trained.

Ok I misunderstood what you said. Do you know its exactly 5 weeks? or was it a guess. And if you do know what was the source?

Based on the books, 8 spartans could still be alive. Will they be in Halo 3? I doubt it.

First Strike left off on September 13, 2552 Aboard UNSC vessel Gettysburg, near Covenant battle station Unyielding Hierophant. And Halo 2 started on October 20, 2552
Earth Defense Platform Cairo. Thats 69(uh oh) days between First Strike and Halo 2.
