Yes in 2014 there should be a halo 2 anniversary, and in 2017 I want a Halo 3 remake. *Throws money at screen*

I really hope they remake Halo 3 on a next gen console. By then, they can probably have true 1080p.
Think about the possibilities the campaign will have.

100 marine piloted Hornets, AI war between 40 friendly AI and 40 enemy AI at the 2 Scarabs fight (I've only managed to collect 22 friendly AI and 22 enemy AI. I couldn't get more because there's a point that kills off nearly all the enemies).

It'd be a dream come true.

Especially if they fixed some things, like making the Pelican at the end of Sierra 117 have no armaments and stopping the Covies from identifying it as an enemy so I can be reassured about being able to leave the level while not having to worry about the enemies being killed off by hax missiles, making it possible to save the hog on Crow's Nest, increasing checkpoint delay time, and eliminating the broken geometry on most misisons that causes weaposn to fall through the ground. I'd gladly play Halo 3 again if these inconveniences were fixed.

That wouldn't change anything...

Heh, it would make the game look significantly cleaner on 1080p displays. Halo 3 and ODST, played on the displays it was designed to be played on, has more noticeable jaggies and shimmering than any other Halo game; 1 and 2 render at slightly lower resolution, but their intended TVs are smaller, typically viewed from significant distances, and most importantly, are matched to those game's native 480-line resolution.

I agree it's not a huge deal, though; the biggest problem is the appearance of high-contrast-lit, large, simple distant objects, and ODST's skybox buildings certainly still manage to look gorgeous despite the obvious aliasing. It also quite possibly wouldn't require a "remake," depending on how similar the new hardware's architecture is to the 360.

Yeah it would. Reach and Halo 3 aren't even 720p on native specs.

I'm a bit worried that a Halo 2 remake would change things from the original that shouldn't be changed, but I want one nonetheless.

Halo multiplayer sucks!

Based on campaigns

Halo 2 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo 3 > Reach/CE tied

A lot. I also want a disc with extras similar to the King King game. For example, in game, interactive art galleries. Your character model is placed in a map with concept artwork all over the walls. Also alternative endings to unlock, more skulls and optional character models, for example there should be an option to switch between Halo 3 brute models and Halo 2 models with updated graphics.

It seems you have made an essay out of my single sentence, you deserve some sort of prize. Anyway I don't even notice a difference in graphics after 480p, so take that as you will and I hope that explains why I care little of video quality at that point.

Well not sure if noob so I better explain this. Most games aren't even 720p on native resolution. Technically, they are still HD as long as they are above (insert actual number) I think 480p. TV only broadcasts at around 720p. There are only a handful of games that have 1080p native specs and most of those are PS3 exclusives. Blu Ray is capable of 1080p so some Blu Ray movies are 1080p. There's a good chance you've played only a few games or none at true 720p let alone 1080p. It's hard to see a difference in something you'e never actually seen.

1080p in native specs is completely different than setting a game setting to 1080p where its native specs are barely above 480p. It's a stretched and converted image instead of actually an image using all of those pixels.

Heh, it's much easier to ramble from a very vague prompt than a very specific one.

On what sort of display, and from what viewing distance? The notion that you simply "don't see the difference above a certain resolution" is a bit absurd.

Whether you see the difference has everything to do with visual accuity and the angular size of pixels, not pure resolution. A 100" 4K screen has an extremely high resolution, but if I stick it 1' from your face, it'll look significantly more pixelated than a 20" 480i CRT will at a reasonable 7' viewing distance. This is because the screen is so big and so close that each individual pixel takes up a greater proportion of your vision.

//=================

Though I should note that nativeness is arguably as big an issue here as pure resolution; playing a 640p game on a 640p TV would probably look better than playing a 640p game on any TV that actually exists. That's one of the biggest reasons I keep an SD CRT around; if I'm playing 480-line games on an older console, they look a lot better on it than they do on our 1080p LCD.

GOAT

I'm not sure if I'd love one or I'd hate it. I loved the Halo 2 Multiplayer, but they can't just rerelease a game with better graffics.. Obviously we'd get armor customization, some new maps, glitches would be fixed(although they were fun to exploit) and.. I think they might "fix" what made Halo 2 so great.

Implying I haven't seen a video at 720p. Of course I have, and I don't notice a big difference. Matter O' fact, the difference is so small to me, I hardly notice it. I'm not against better quality, I'm just saying it isn't really a big deal to me. Or rather I wouldn't say the quality is a factor whether it is worth remaking a game over.

Actually, that's not what he's implying. You said you don't care as long as it's beyond 480p... and he's implying that most of the games you've played above 480p on your TV have all been at comparable resolutions (600p-720p), all of which are going to suffer from somewhat comparable scaling artifacts on a 1080p TV. The implication is that you're not familiar enough with the difference between 600p-720p on a 1080p display, and 1080p on a 1080p display.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Halo 2 would make a great XBLA title.

I think the best option to keep the fans happy would be to release it on XBLA and crank the internal resolution to 1920x1080. Saves them time, saves nostalgia crazy fans from fuming and it saves both money.

Also, if you don't want it to be put into 1920x1080, your rose tinted goggles are so think that it has to be hurting your nose from the weight. Kicking the resolution up would do nothing physically to the game and yes, you'd be able to tell a difference in graphics. A good difference.

If you're still not convinced, go buy an old 4:3 CRT television. That'll help out with the nostalgic feel you love so much and you'll get to keep your terrible resolution. :D <3

One of the early-2000's ones that can do 1080-line video, before they all went widescreen for HD displays?

:P

(I really wish I had room for an HD CRT, some of the later 16:9 ones are still easily some of the most gorgeous TVs ever made. And even though they were never cranked up to full 1080p, native 720p would be great for this console generation, and 1080i30 treated as 60fps with even/odd 540-line fields can look very nearly as good as native 1080p, at least for the camera rotation speeds seen in console titles.)

Nah :P I said an old CRT, not a newer one... Even though I guess those aren't particularly "new" anymore.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

I do not want a H2 remake.

Loved the game but companies need to stop remaking things.

I want a simple hd remake of the game, with some new features like a place to turn on and off skulls and online co-op like Halo Anniversary did. For multiplayer, I'd like it to remain the same as the original with all the glitches, super bounces, etc. But knowing 343 and what they did with Halo Anniversary we can expect the select maps that 343 updates/upgrade to hd to be merged with the Halo 4 multiplayer system. I just hope they at least pick the good ole maps to be remade for Halo 2 Anniversary, or have all the maps be remade.

New Marathon? Thanks Bungie!

remove glitches, reduce aim assist and rebalance weapons and we will talk

  • 09.18.2012 8:52 PM PDT

I will probably wet myself with joy if they make one but i would like it with new maps more firefight settings (but none to make you superman or anything) and more achievments toggle on/off new graphics and a great warthog chase at the end (i love those) and maybe a game type where its racing and you have races like the ones at the end and get there in time and set it on easy/normal/heroic/legendary is the time you get so easy might be 7 mins and legendary might be 2 mins so on...

I don't know what C.E. Anniversary's sales are...(and that's probably all that really counts...) But I couldn't think of anything I'd want more. Updated graphics and achievements for things like seeing a jackal get a needler kill...Wow. I don't know if I'd wet myself, but I'd come blammed close.

I love my CRT. :3 The accessibility via remote is priceless. The newer TVs can be so inconvenient!
