I'm talking about the forum software of course.
What do you think it should be modeled after? Personally, I think they should get ideas from IP Board. It's a very popular forum software and has a nest of features. In other forums that use it it's features aren't abused, on here however, I'm not so sure.
I frequently visit a community forum that uses IP Board, it uses these features that work quite well. It's a smaller community though, not sure how it would work here.
Some features are:
Status update: I know what you're thinking, "This isn't facebook!" Just hear me out, a user makes a status and it shows up in a sidebar, other users can comment on it. There is no 'liking' of comments or status'.
Today's Top Posters: Self explanatory, in a side bar it show's today's top posters and the amount of posts they have made.
'
[b]Recent topic's added[b]: It shows recently added topics in a side bar (These sidebars are displayed below each other)
At the bottom it shows things such as "Total Posts Made", "Total Members" "Newest Member" and "Most Online at once record" It also shows who's online (Might not work with a community this size). If you're viewing a certain forum, it shows at the bottom who is also on that forum. If your viewing a thread, it shows who else is viewing the thread. There's also another fun option at the bottom, it shows whose birthday it is that day.
It also has better posting options. You can delete posts you made. change you're font and font size, change the color of your font, insert images, a button for inserting links, emoticons. There is an undo and redo button. You can add 'bullets' and lists, and insert YouTube videos.
There is also a 'Welcome Forum'. A place where new members can introduce themselves into the community.
Now there is alot of features here, some good, some bad. What do you guys think?
