Have you ever pushed 2 magnets of the same charge together? And what happens. Newtons 3rd law proves you wrong.

I've realized now that
a recoil system wouldn't even be needed AT ALL in the guass rifle
because magents are propelling the slug, and their are no
explosives to cause any recoil !! MAGNETS do not cause recoil.

Your firing a 25mm round at hyper sonic speeds. Do your math and you can work out the recoil force

I still can't believe your ignorance on simple physics. Newton would be turning in his grave.

PLEASE READ *****

The only reason that standard guns have recoil is beacuse
they use explosives, to propel a bullet.

*****The recoil in standard guns is caused
be the explosives in the cartrige, and a buildup of gasses
as result of the explosives.

I've realized now that
a recoil system wouldn't even be needed AT ALL in the guass rifle
because magents are propelling the slug, and their are no
explosives to cause any recoil !! MAGNETS do not cause recoil.

Oh yes they do. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, you think using magnets goes around that rule?

But, the recoil would be spread out over how long the gun took to accelerate the shell, unlike modern guns that just cause explosions in the chamber.

Guass rifles accelerate the projectile at amazing speeds. Almost instantaneously.

Well it depends on the size of the rifle, but it's certainly slower than the standard firing mechanism.

It really depends on the size of the projectile, the smaller the better. Speed factors in too, but surely the aim of the gun is for it to be going as fast as possible?

Sounds like the Damn Halo 1 pistol... 3 head shots?

Also another name for this is the rail-gun.

I made a gauss rifle for a science fair last year. all you need are magnets, a ruler, and marbles. It turned out to be pretty cool and it worked nicely :)

I was under the impression these guys wanted to rip the Gauss cannon off the back of a Hog. They have made railguns in real life but for them to be effectively better than normal guns they had to be big. They never made it to the army because of the huge cost and consumption of power.

Okay lets say for the sake of argument that the magnets do have recoil in
the Gauss Hog, Then the gauss hog would reaciol would be the same as
the speed of that the shell was accelerated to acording to. ( which is Dozens
or even hundreds of times faster than standard ammunition. ) This would
make the firing of the turret on even the warthog imppossible beacause
the turret itself would flip the hog over from the recoil pressure.

So the GAUSS MAgnets must have some type of device to make sure that the magnetic
cahrge is only directed in a certain direction !!! Halo does take place 500 years from now
I'm sure that hey have technology that is capable of directing magnetic fields in a certain direction.

You can't defy the laws of Physics completely. 25mm projectile isn't huge. A hefty millitary hog has more than enough weight to handle the recoil.

just look at out last 100 years of technological
development.

500 years isn't a long time if you look at human history, but if you look at Earth history it is pretty long.

Also, a lot can happen in 500 years. Just look at our past 100 years. We've had two world wars, a Cold war, and there are still hundreds of smaller wars going on in smaller countries. 100 years ago the Europeans were using the Gatling gun to mow down the defenseless Africans to colonize the mother-land. Nowadays we've got even stronger weapons.. and only in 100 years.

That is true though. The hog was designed for offroad ventures. You can be sure that it was top quality shock absorbers to minimize the recoil of landing on the ground.

I know alot has happened but don't wet yourself. Has the lightbulb changed since it was invented? And guns have the same design. Explosive charge, Metal projectile.

No he doesn't. If he did you could walk through walls, put holes in the ground with your feet and run full force at a hog and it would go flying not you.

3rd time's the charm;

MOMENTUM = MASS x VELOCITY

It'd take one HELL of a gun to flip a hog.

Then why does he still suffer from SMG recoil? Obviously his weight has nothing to do with the recoil of the gun.

As proof the Chaingun hog weighs 3.25 tons and the Gauss hog weighs 3.5 tons.

Do you want to know what weighs in at an almighty 66 tons? The Scorpion tank does.

*slaps own head*

The more MC weighs, the less he'll be forced back by it...

Edit: Ignore this, misinterpretted what he ment, sorry!

That prooves what? That a gauss cannon weighs a quarter of a ton more than a chaingun?

I was answering to the claim that the MC weighed 66 tons. The same weight as the Scorpion.

Yea, I know. I'm just calling the Logan guy out because he said the chief weighs 66 tons. So even if he does weigh that much, and he still suffers from SMG-recoil, he'll be blown away by the recoil of the guass.

Don't worry, I'm on your side.

He need strengh to counter his weight...let's see you carrriend an Bodysuit the same weight.

Ohhh and the recoil (it a combanation of stupidity from Bungie and gameplay on Halo CE the AR carried bigger much powerful rounds and you could bearly see the recoil...and in the novel the Mrk.V armor had shock absorbers in his hands...Mrk.VI is an upgrade right do the math.
