Halo 2 special edition came with the packet Conversations from the Universe. You can read them here:

The ninth conversations, the one is hyperlinked, talks of Cassandra, a Spartan that was in critical condition in the early years of the war.
Now, as many of you know, Bungie likes Mythology. Much of the halo plot is from the Greek and Roman war time period. Also, many of the characters are from Mythological gods. ( i.e. Tarturus, Spartans) However, Cassandra is one of these Roman gods. You can find out more info on Cassandra here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra
Cassandra is well known as a fortune-teller, given this gift from Apollo. This is a quote from a Mythology book: "given the power of prophecy by Apollo. When she spurned his love, he could not take back the gift, but stipulated that no one would ever believe her." It is also said that she would foretell evil or bad things. This last part is what caught my eye. Here are some quotes from Cassandra’s note:
“but the choice to incorporate further Covenant technology somehow makes my skin crawl.”
“Today, humanity feels pale and thin with only ghosts to defend her heart. I feel much the same”
These are particularly interesting; they seem a LOT like foreshadowing. The only reason they seem somewhat important though is because a Spartan, by the name of Cassandra, said them.
Now, I am sure you flamers are heating up, so let it rip.
