In my opinion, yes, but it should be moderated from Halo: Combat Evolved. It should be there, but less dramatic, as sometimes what appeared to be a small fall, could take out your full shield or half of it. However, it felt weird not to have it, and I still haven't adjusted to it in Halo 2.

I think we definately need it back. Or, if we don't have it, we shouldn't have recoil. I mean the Master Chief can fall 10 stories from a building with no damage, but can't control a small side arm? In Halo: Combat Evolved, he can be ruined by a four story jump, but has no recoil at all. We should find a medium here. I mean, he is a genetically enhanced super-soldier who is wearing enchancing armor, how can he not control a small gun (SMG) but fall 10 stories without being damaged at all?

Yes, but it should be moderated, depending on how high you fall. Lets make it realistic; the MJOLNIR armor can't possibly absorb a fall from great heights, ala Halo 2.

That is stupid. That makes no sense, since if it is campaign, and the MC is the same person/same armor in both MP and campaign, why could he survive big falls in MP but not campaign?

I just don't want it in multiplayer. It would be stupid to jump down off a base to kill the flag theif and die from the fall when it was the only way to get down in time.

Plus boarding of vehicles. The banshee flies up so the previous occupant dies just because it's too high up... that is stupid.

They could add the ability to shake off boarders, in all vehicles.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Actually on Reach the other Spartans were thousands of feet in midair and they jumped and survived!

i think it should be the way it is...u shouldnt get a suicide for accidently falling in matchmaking...plus everyone(almost i guess)is used to the way it is and i think most people like it...and as the guy said about the banshee thing and the other guy replied well they can add an option to shake people off....then the guy boarding would die and its the same problem.and the thing im most woried about is glitch games whereas u get launched by a wraith or your trying to butterfly and fall or have to jump down to help someone off...i dunno i like it how it is

  • 06.22.2006 8:36 AM PDT

Of course it should come back, the only reason they took it out was because of the sword physics. Just make it damage your shield when you fall from a large height, a breif stun effect, and have it minimized by crouch-landing. Simple yet more strategic.

Perhaps it should be broke back but (unless theres an insta-death barrier) it can never kill you. The maximum damage would be completely drained shields. I reckon that would work.

For instance... We've all played Coag Assault and had the enemy do the "hog launch" right? Well what if the bomb guy dropped in and had completely drained shields? Easy peasy.

..... Hmmmm.... Maybe death from fall damage should be possible.. Cos then the hog launch or superbouncing would be utterly useless. This is of course assuming that glitches will be in Halo3!!!

every game will have glitches....and i dont think super jumps were on accident because of the percise places u must crounch and the EXACT spot u have to juimp on to make it work...just an opinion

That is also a book. Bungie didn't write it. There is no reason Bungie has to follow a book they did not write.

As for my two cents....I felt fall damage brought a small measure of skill. You had to know where you could and couldn't jump from. You had to learn to crouch when you hit the floor, ext. But on the other hand it's kind of fun to jump from anywhere. So, part of me wants it back, and part of me doesn't. If it came down to having a "classic weapons" mode or fall damage, I'd rather have the classic weapons mode.

The Book was writen under supervision of Bungie, it is part of the overall storyline that Bungie has been developing and fallowing for the Halo series. Spartans should be what they are in Halo 3. Geneticly modified, Technologicly enhanced supersoldiers who have been trained from childhood to be those supersolders.

They can do so much that the games have just been holding them back. I want Halo 3 to be the final Halo, the one where they get everything right. And unless MC is doing an orbital drop without a droppod, he isn't getting fall dammage.

Fall damge shoould be back, but moderated, I mean reallyI walk of a 30 foot high cliff and I lose half my health. But I don't see how you can't be harmed from it mabe damage to the shields and a little lose of health but not drastic. Shouldn't have fall damage in MP.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

The best is that 4 people picked "I'm a witless sack of meat with no opinion". So honest is this community.

  • 06.22.2006 10:53 AM PDT

For everyone who voted 'no' how about you ask for a permanent shield too to stop those nasty bullets hurting you? They're so mean. You can call it the cotton wool shield, and it would keep the big meanies away. After all, who likes getting hurt?

I don't know,if it should come back, then it should be moderated,if not, well,it won't.I am mostly not wanting to have it back,I've grown to be used to not getting hurtv after falling off a building. Also, with fall damage, many glitches would not be acsessible, and glitches are what made Halo 2 last a bit longer.

I really don't see why fall damage was ever removed in the first place. I say bring it back for realism. Now people will argue over this, but the people whp want no fall damage only really have one argument: Halo 2 had no fall damage and since Halo 2 is the medium for all games created during/after it's lifetime, everyone will automatically be used to no fall damage and it would bring up "balance issues" to bring back fall damage.
