I'm old... compared to most of the brats on here that sound like girls.

For me its the diversity and beauty of the maps. Halo is such a rich universe that the maps can be in any terrain and in any building. Something I've only really found else where in Unreal Tournament. GoW maps are dark and depressing and CoD are all set on earth, so they feel one dimensional.

How bout you? Maybe its the guns, maybe its the game play, I don't know you tell me.

I love how one game managed to create 5 sequels, a side-story, 2 prequels and how it expanded into other media without destroying critical elements of the Universe as a whole.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

The general silliness and upbeat atmosphere, the goofiness.

Uhm, yeah, wow, precisely this. Well put.

The vehicles. I love to drive. And drive. And drive.

The world is so vast.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

How believable the Haloverse is.

I mean, you can really believe that this universe is real, and that past events happened, and future events will happen. It's futuristic, but realistic about it. No flying cars and stuff like that.

I can really see Humanity in 500 years has Halo plays it out to be.

You cant be more wrong. Reach had the most sophisticated AI in all the halo games. Some of the stuff the elites did was outrageously devious and intelligent; especially the zealots

Then why do they need to cheat? Why do they rarely use cover?

This is not devious or intelligence. Even without the Hologram, I only need the needle rifle, sword, or plasma pistol pepper to dispatch them.

especially the zealots
lolwut?

They fail hard.

Furthermore, I did not say Reach Elite AI. I said Reach AI. That includes the Jackals (damage sponge slow moving shields with haxed plasma pistol), Hunters (damage sponge campers who have ridiculous fuel rod blast radius and do nothing about an incoming vehicle), Brutes (damage sponge incompetents who stick each other and do a slow berserking charge, easily killed by needler and needle rifle), Noble Team and the troopers (severely nerfed, poor distractions).

Not to mention how reactions are as limited/predictable as they are in Halo 2. Stick a Grunt or Jackal, he always panics or does nothing. Stick an Elite, he always berserks, charges, or does nothing. Whereas in CE, sticking a Grunt, Jackal, and Elite can make them try to get it off and making the Elite panic.

I am not convinced by damage sponge bottomless clip mindlessly spamming enemies that don't even look out for their comrades. I am convinced by enemies that recognize projectiles and readily respond to it and recognize their comrades, which clearly aren't the case in Reach (only needle rifle makes most enemies dive. Grenades do nothing without Tough Luck. And enemies rarely consider their allies, splattering them regardless. Lots of Wraiths have been known to do this).

And let's not forget how firing your gun alerts every enemy in the area to you (rather than to just your location as in CE). No stealth at all in Reach. Camo does not help at all.

The truth clearly is, Reach AI suck. They cheat and Noble Six is weak. Countless times I would have won if it weren't for Noble Six's slow movement speed and Elite's insane movement speed.

And I will defend my assertions with personal evidence if I have to. Even if it means spending 6+ hours in a game that I hate. Even if it means putting up with massive amounts of bs and being screwed.

There may not be a "I" in team, but there is a "I" in Win.

Valhalla. Oh how much more it would have been played if Halo 3 had halo reach's game choosing system. Easily my favorite map evar. Or, Custom games. But when I was bored, one of my favorite things was getting on forge world and had a map that had walls over all the water except the driveable stuff, bridges and junk to different parts, and just jumping in a warthog and driving around the whole map literally sight-seeing. Finding out where all the boundaries were. Standing underneath that one waterfall. Or just Guilty Sparking it and flying around and checking out how well the scenery really is, even in halo 3. I love it. I mean sure it isn't much to look at but it's really cool checking maps out, especially those "sandbox" types, or even the Sandbox map in general. Man, I hope halo 4 has a bigger, better forge world.

Don't know about my favorite element, but the main thing that drew me in from the start was the aesthetics of the game. The gameplay made sense, the controls felt natural, and the environments were lush and beautiful and cinematic. A major detractor I find in most first-person shooters is a lack of effort in the design of the environments, where you get a lot of monochrome surroundings, and the areas play like backdrops to old 50s cartoons, where the same backgrounds get recycled for every other scene. Halo has always struck me as anything but that.

Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

The ability to jump. To me, the biggest defining factor that separated/s Halo from other FPS games is that Halo has an arguably unique jump height.

..yup.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

I love how it can be enjoyed at any level. Deep backstory, simple front-story, or just the gameplay, it's fun!

The interesting universe that Bungie lovingly created. Every time I see something new for Halo 4 I realise that I am actually a bigger Bungie fan than a Halo fan.

That is such an ambiguous topic it's egregious!

However, if I were to boil down all my love for Halo, it would be fortified due to the soundtrack, primarily the music. My favorite would be whenever Heavy Price Paid played in Halo 2.

Every time I hear it a get this melancholic shiver down my spine, and although it may sound dismal, that emotional provocation is one of the greatest feelings I have felt in my life. This is making me quite nostalgic.

Vast beauty of its landscapes and sky boxes. And how you can tell that there was just a lot of pride and hard work put into the world Bungie created for us to enjoy.

The ability to create a map and play it with up to 16 of your friends; or to pull off an incredable move (like a triple ninja in matchmaking) and get a few messages of 5 year old noobs and laugh at how they think that you hacked the game when really you just have incredable skill.
