Bye.

Say someone has a lot of alts and locks the thread by reporting it with all of said alts, it's highly likely that the thread will be off the 1st page of The Flood by the time a Ninja inspects it. If the Ninja does unlock it, the topic is as good as dead if it's not on the 1st or 2nd page of The Flood -- unless someone bumps it back to life.

I don't like giving the community the power to lock threads.
We can't handle power.....yet!

Why can't people just report and ignore the thread? That is the most effective way to deal with those types of thread.

Your idea can be abused, people could report with their alts. I'm sure they don't care if their alt gets banned. With this idea we are giving trolls more tools.

  • 08.31.2012 4:49 PM PDT

wat? If someone breaks the rules you expect people to ignore it? Seems kinda backwards. Maybe I need more Sailor Jerry.

He said report and ignore. I'm pretty sure that's what people are supposed to do.

Ignoring as in not posting and bumping the rule breaking thread. Just let it fall off the page and the mods will deal with it later.

There are already consequences for abusing the report button, and usernames do not show up in the report queue, or should, or need to. Besides, do you honestly expect the same community that decides to give a troll a hot topic to really know what's supposed to be reported or not?

What about a good twenty people that are responsible, active, and well known get an advanced report button that locks the thread and hides the post until a ninja inspects it? That way only responsible people have that power.

Whats wrong with it? It is 100% true.

OT: mods can already see who reports and stay calm. Achronos is here and is going to blast everybody's vent core.

Upgrading a PC is so hard. You have all these updates, and disks, and what not. When it comes to upgrading a Mac, it's easy. You just take your old Mac, throw it away, and go buy a new one!

I'm not saying you're wrong but The Flood has a nasty habit of posting in the rule breaking threads instead of reporting it and moving on. Some will do a mixture and report the thread, and then post in it. Can you say irony?

This. And it would be abused when people mass-report a thread just because of the OP.

When I first joined B.net, I used to post in Bold to make my posts stand out. But this is spam and annoying to read in a normal reply.

...which can't really be said about my Deviant Art Page however.

I find the false enthusiasm for the rules from some in this thread rather ironic and amusing x)

If you wish to make a difference, report, ignore, and move on let it fall off the page. You've done all you can do, not posting in it will help.

We could just use a few more active mods.

Your idea is a good one, in principle, if the people of this site wouldn't abuse the report button to just get random threads locked. Thread locking is for the people in charge.

Like moderators...

mods can already see who reports
On the contrary, moderators can not see who has reported, they only see the number of reports. But there is a system in which report button abuse is dealt with.

We need reserve mods that only get moderator status either at certain times of the day/night or when there hasn't been a locked thread or member banned in a certain amount of time.

Of course they'd have to be active, trustworthy members.

Bye.

Why have reserves when you could just promote them? If you tust them enough to moderate for 3 hours when not let them mod 25/8?
