Let say.. If there's a person who wants to troll on, that person would probably create 19 account in a single day, only to report that person's post.

And frankly it would be bad to see all the threads get locked by the very same person with duplicated account.

I was a finalist :P

The amount of reports required to collapse a post is most likely less than 20. I don't think anyone would waste time reporting something which has already been sent to the report queue, even if they know it's takes 20 to lock (because they dont know how many times the OP has been reported.)

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

Why have reserves when you could just promote them? If you tust them enough to moderate for 3 hours when not let them mod 25/8?

Certainly makes sense, but I'm thinking of a system that factors in the trust rating of a user, the number of reports that the user has made on rule-breaking threads/post, and the activity of the user, and it promotes the user to moderator status during times when moderator activity is practically nonexistent.

Of course it does have kinks and it's not a perfect idea.

Edit: Maybe only give them limited moderator ability, such as locking threads.

Bye.

Like "Junior Ninjas®"? Maybe they can temporarily lock the thread for 30 minutes and it goes to the top of the report queue. If any Forum Ninja deems it ok, then it unlocks and goes back to the top of the forum?

Mods that only get moderator status either at certain times of the day/night or when there hasn't been a locked thread or member banned in a certain amount of time.
I don't hate it.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

The "mods are away" isn't true.

We've actually got a pretty small squad here, specialized and capable, just right for the job. No wasted manpower.

The mods who are non-PAX attending are on duty and are MORE than capable of handling anything that the report queue contains. The trick is that members need to make those reports. Moderators are standing by to respond to posts/topics that the community flags as inappropriate. They have their role, and the members have a part to play too.

As the Superintendent might say "Click it to ticket".

I can already think of a way to abuse this. I think it's a bad idea.

If we all had more responsibilities then the report button on b.net it would take a good chunk of your time away from posting and enjoying yourself. And posting/sharing is why we are here.

Also I like the trust factor/mini mod idea.

How's this? have it so when an elder or more trust worthy member reports a thread a unique notification box pop up for the ninjas stating this has been reported by [insert username here] and requires attention as soon as possible. This would make locking and banning more efficient when you add the trust and seniority factor into the report button. Follow me?

My suggestion to help the mods is not feed trolls and click the report button.

How about that?

Just today the ninjas were gone for a while, and a bunch of inappropriate and rule breaking threads were made and became hot topics. This obviously is not acceptable.

My idea is, what if when a thread gets reported enough times, it locks on its own? Say the thread is reported by 20 people, the thread just locks itself.

And before you say this can get abused, make it so mods can see who reports a thread. That way when they get back and see it's a fine thread, they can ban the people who abused the report button and unlock the thread.
I would rather have a feature that has another block users list, but for forums. Let's say I block someone and view a thread that user posted in. Their post would still be displayed, but it would be collapsed with the option to unhide it.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I think we should just make a list.

Key

20 reports and it's locked for an hour. 20 more and it's locked for another hour. A mod can, at any time, make the OP unreportable because they've reviewed it. Other mods would still be able to lock it if they found it offensive, but the unreportable status would just signify that a mod has acknowledged it.

wat? If someone breaks the rules you expect people to ignore it? Seems kinda backwards. Maybe I need more Sailor Jerry.

That is the most effective way to deal with those types of thread.

I'm not saying you're wrong but The Flood has a nasty habit of posting in the rule breaking threads instead of reporting it and moving on. Some will do a mixture and report the thread, and then post in it. Can you say irony?

I understand what your saying. My take on that is, The problem isn't really the troll. The problem is the people that feed the troll. Trolls are who start the problem but the members that feed the trolls are the biggest problem. If a thread is an obvious troll thread I think the people that posted in there should be punished.

I'm not a mod so I don't know how often they ban/warn people for posting in such threads. My guess is that they do punhish those said people fairly often. But some people just don't care, the ban/warning is suppose to teach them not to feed trolls but they don't care. Dealing with peoples agency sucks.
