Already happened once. Most people moved offsite.
Really?! When?
Last major update, that was prior to 07 right?

Okay, that was a few months before I joined. So was loss in members really that significant?

I'd just take my group offsite and say goodbye to Bungie.

What a shame.
I'll be honest and say I've never understood this mentality. You would rather create an offsite group with your 61ish friends than post in the public forum.

What makes the public forums such a distasteful option?

Good idea. Let's kill site activity even more.

It would just make people more butt-hurt towards Bungie than a lot of the forum is already.

I just saw a green monkey nut shot a small tan lizard(?) in a gunny sack.

I wouldn't use private groups as much as I do if the community/mains didn't suck as a whole. Forcing me out of my private groups to interact with people I don't like isn't going to make me like them any better, it's going to make me hate them more than I already do.

Seems like it would it would do much more harm than good.

How about we just let people use the site how they want to?

I wholeheartedly agree.

And if they are that asshurt and they end up going offsite, then good riddance, I don't value their opinions.

When I grow up I want to be bitter and spiteful.

"i liked the reality where everything was on fire better"
-legato on remedial chaos theory

I for one would love the ensuing chaos as all the main forums are forced accommodate private chapter discussions. I expect each group will have their own threads, appropriately designated in each OP.

Because of the overwhelming thread creation in the Flood, I would not be surprised if users begin to move their group discussion to all other inactive forums, flooding them inappropriate topics.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

They already have a defined purpose (whereas in private groups you and those you decide to associate with create your own).

Shifting the topic of discussion away from assessing the virtues of an idea to "I just don't understand why everyone won't accept my idea" isn't exactly productive. In this respect, you're not going to create addition through subtraction and you're not going to understand other people's points of view by bemoaning the fact that not everyone thinks the same way you do.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

I agree. They should also be forced to be on B.net 24/7. Hilarity is ensured.

God made 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I like the intent (boosting participation) but disagree with the proposed initiative.

While I'm not going to guarantee this, but I would bet a 3 legged goat that once Bungie announces their next project, attendance will skyrocket again. Be patient, don't piss off the locals by making totally radical but unwelcome changes and most importantly build strong ties with the remnant now so you know who truly support the community - it's going to get crazy in a bit.

New Flood

But why stop there? Why not just import the 12 year olds from the mains into peoples houses so they can be annoyed by the little rascals even when they're not on bungie.net.

  • 09.02.2012 2:41 AM PDT

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

Without groups, I would have no reason to come here.

I check my groups first, then visit the other forums. That wouldnt happen without the groups.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

Groups are a much closer, tight nit community than the main forums. I've become "friends" with the members of the groups I'm in, and I prefer their company.

If what you propose is enacted, there's a good chance we won't talk often anymore, since we won't have a place to convene.

Not to mention groups have a tendency to be more lenient than the main forums. We can talk about things in private that we cannot discuss in the mains. We can act like total idiots, and not get banned.

There's some group out there who has already posted a link to this thread talking about how its a terrible idea.

Lets just join more groups.

If you disable groups the people who are coming here solely for groups aren't going to start enjoying the mains again, they're just going to stop coming at all.
Agreed.

My thoughts; no.. just no. For example the community joes team plans, tests and edits things in their chapter, with the groups disabled how would we do anything?
