Should halo 3 have all of the maps from halos 1 and 2? With the increaced space of a HD-DVD they could do it, but would it be worth it? Also, what about one ubermap that maybe combined all of the maps? that map would work well with about 128 players (I think bungie could program a 128p multiplayer -- with the 360 the skies the limit).

OK, yes, it is very true that I'm a dumb ass. I'm not denying that. However, isn't the whole point of a beta to increase the amount of users until you get someone dumb enough to try something you haven't anticipated.

I've got an idea, s4ndp4perm4n, how about, instead of telling others how stupid you think they are, you actually state a better idea . as you have already shown on some of my other threads, you know everything about marketing, X-Box vs X-Box 360 system specifications, and the life, times, and beliefs of every X-Box live player and owner, so why don't you start a better thread and improve the world with your vast stores of knowladge.

Wow. Will people please just stop posting things before they think them through? Look at the Big Team playlists. Even THOSE typically have a lot of lag, and those are only 16 player games. With 128 players in a single game, the game would just crash. Furthermore, the reason that the maps from Halo 2 were so different from the first Halo is that the games were balanced differently. Jump heights, fall damage, etc. made Halo 2 maps specialized for Halo 2. And an "uber map?" Are you joking?

I'm sorry, maybe I'm just in a pissy mood but I really wish that more thought was put into these posts. No offense, ok? :)

though your point is valid, and deserves thought, in the near future almost everyone will have at least a 14 mbps DSL connection, if not faster. Also, the game will be limited to xbox 360s, which will reduce lag significantly. finally, if you look at the old game Tribes (playable on a pentium III at 733 MHz w/ 8mb of video memory and a dialup connection) you will see that up to 128 players may play each map. Granted, Tribes had a lot less bump- and texture-mapping, but still, i believe that Bungie could pull it off. or at least a 32 player game.

12(you had me until here)8 players? Hell no! I say 20 max for standard MP, and 4 is pushing it for co-op. Just stop talking.

Not one of your ideas are good. First there is no room to have ALL the maps from H1 & H2, new maps, and a campaign on a DL-DVD. MS has already stated games WILL NOT be made on HD-DVDs.

An ubber map? 128 player MP? Seriously lay off the shrooms and whip its.

Oh and I'm not flaming just stating my opinion.

  • 06.21.2006 8:42 PM PDT

128 is definitely too many. Maybe 20-30 in a game. I love BTB, so I say the bigger the better. As long as it can be pulled off efficiently. As for the old maps, definitely bring them all back. Or at least introduce some in updates every so often.

DL-DVD.

I'm sorry, i'm not quite up-to-date on DVD terminoligy; what is a DL-DVD? I can't find it on Goooogle.
oh, also, with a 20 gig HDD, I think that the X-Box 360 could hold a couple maps on it's own, or halo 3 could be a multi DVD packet -- insert 1 for multiplayer, one for campaign.

DL-DVD is Dual-Layer Digital Video Disc. All xbox 360 games are written on DL-DVDs.

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

"heh"

Just think how much noise would be over the headset with 128 people, nobody would get anything done.

Ok seriously now I am starting to doubt your knowledge on any subject. There is defiantly no such thing as a "quad layer" dvd, and prolly never will be. Unless your referring to a HD-DVD which may have four layers, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I hope your aware the 360 doesn't have a "quad layer" or a HD-DVD reader yet. Also while your at it, stop making so many pointless threads.

well, there in fact is such thing as a quadruple layer DVD-ROM, see this site: http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/specsformats/16xDVDburner s.php. though still in production, a 15 gig dvd could in fact hold every map from Halos 1 and 2. also, I would like it if you would not discribe my ideas as childish. My posts may be proposing strange ideas, but some could be completed when simplifyed (32-64 player live, one map 2x the size of coag, etc.)

Not because of lag issues, but because of communication issues, and for the sake of fun gameplay.

Hated by many, confronted by none.

They should have this size function on every map so the map gets bigger and smaller depending on how many players. every map should have about 4-5 levels of size

Your ideas are not as childish as your behavior. So far I have counted 5 pointless, and redundant threads you have made. Not one of them is original, except for this "special" one. So please think before you make another thread, and waste bungies bandwidth, and out time. Also that link doesn't work.

If you beleive that my ideas are: "pointless and redundant," why are you posting on them? I have found many instances in which you have posted poitless statements that boil down to: "I am great. I know technology. Steve is stupid. I have no life." I would appreciate it if you would avoid posting on any of my threads in the future.

Also, that link doesn't work.

If you are truly the technologicly savvy person that you pretend to be, why don't you simply highlight the URL, press "Ctrl-C," then click on the adress bar and type "Ctrl-V"

All maps from Halo:CE,and Halo 2 would be cool, and even the maps that Halo PC had but Halo:xbox did not have, and of course Halo 3 maps. But are you crazy?128 players? Most games with 32 and up players suck.128 players would ruin Halo. Here's why:You would die every second.Duh.Obvious.And an Uber map?Thats sounds extremely dumb. And all maps combined?!?One day,you are walking on Lockout,5 minutes later, you are in Co-ag.WOW!Cold to Hot!It's god's way of saying the world is going to end(I'm a christian, thi is just a small joke)!

The only way to get 128 would be with fiber optics, hell I don't even know how much fiber optic internet speed can support, I don't know it's bandwidth capabilities, but it's more than cable internet.

If bungie wants to have 128 peopl on the
same map they'll make an MMORG of Halo.
They would never put 128 people on the same map.
The lag and chaos in the game would be incredible,
you would have 10 people shoooting with snipers at the same time,
it just wouldn't be fun.
And no the 360 couldn't handle 128 people, maybe the xbox 1080,
but not the 360

In Japan, the average fiber optic connection is about 100 mbps; 100 megabits ber second, or 12.5 megabytes per second.
If you don't beleive that it's possible, check out a game called "Tribes" from 1999ish
