Poll: If someone was banned in Halo 2, should we give them a second chance?  [closed]
Yes, they should have learned their lesson.:  22%

Maybe... I don't know...:  8%

No, they shouldn't have cheat in the first place.:  69%

We all know cheaters suck, but should they be given a second chance? Go read some of the wahhhhhhmbulance letters. It's pretty obvious that they wish they hadn't cheated, and probably wouldn't do it again if they got a second chance. But on the other hand, there are also the jerks who cheat just to anger people. They would most likely cheat again in Halo 3, if there's a way. What do you think? Be merciful and let them come back? Or have sweet vengence knowing that they're missing out?

I think they should figure out a way to make the xbox 360 scatch the disk. I know its probably not possible, but its nice to dream. When someone signs into their account on xbox live and they are on the list from Halo 2, the xbox 360 should scratch the disk. Setting the disk on fire would be great but I'll settle for scratching it.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

I reiterate, it's very, VERY hard to mod a 360 (usually, you go through 3 or 4 of them and then it's still buggy), so cheating will be virtually nill on any 360 game.

If you tip the xbox over it can put a fat scratch on the disk, so just find their house and tip their xbox.

You know, those bans only apply to the game of Halo 2. They will have a clean slate again, but if they cheat, I guess they'll just have to wait until the next great game...

Yeah you could have the program start reading data randomly from the disk to make the disk spin really fast. Then you could have a message come up and ask the user to change the position of their xbox for some bogus reason(better graphics or something).
Maybe there is a fan that can be shut off in the xbox. I know I can shut down the fan on my laptop. Given the ammount of heat that the cpu gives off in the 360, it wouldn't take to long for the xbox to have a failure. Unless the chip has a thermal shutdown on it, it will cook the chip. I don't know how to keep the cheater from installing their own fan to keep air flow over the heat sink though. :(

I don't think they should let the cheaters back. If they do, the cheaters should be put on a list, and monitor with a high priority then the other players.

No because they are all a bunch of complete losers and shouldn't be let loose on Halo3 after cheating a ruining Halo2 games for some people...

New content coming soon

I've never cheated before and I don't even know how to, but if I did I would still never cheat, because I believe in justice towards gameplay and that no one should have a cheat or advantage over someone else that gives them the edge over another player. All cheaters in my opinion should get a 3 strike deal, but there are people are there that just are asking to get banned. I've seen it before.

standby and bridging would work the same, presuming bungie uses players to host games again this time.

A H2 ban doesn't prevent you from playing any other game (unless it was Microsoft that banned the gamertag from live...), why should it translate to H3? Different game, different platform, though in time the community should be pretty consistent.

H3 will be much more difficult to mod, both because of the difficulties modding a 360 and because Bungie knows what they're doing, and will make H3 as cheatproof as possible.

Plus, with the preference and "rep" system in the new XBLive, you'll only have to play with a cheater once, soon enough it'll be difficult for the few of them that will actually do it to find games.

I think they will have another chance if they have a 360,because you can't mod the 360,and if they try, well, they won't get banned, but they will be quite mad because they can't ruin the game for everyone.

They were banned for an offense in Halo 2. What should it matter if they're playing Halo 3? I think they learned their lessons.

LOL, I hardly think they've learned their lessons. I mean seriously look at all the guys who get banned then are miraculously back with another account. Some of these guys even have 6 or 7 accounts in addition to their "legit" account.

  • 06.22.2006 10:15 AM PDT

90% of cheaters never learn their lessons, ahem, 2 month trials.

I say give them another chance. not b/c I feel sorry for them or something. It's just that the xbox 360 hasn't been hacked yet since the system is more complex. So they can't hack for halo 3. might as well give them a chance to play again. It doesn't matter anyway. If you are cheating in a game like halo 2, and get banned, it won't ban you from another game such as Golden Eye RA

"I came back to life for THIS?!" -Sgt. Johnson

Just make them pay the money for a new account. If someone is banned for several years because they can't spend some money a little earlier than usual, then it is their problem. I think that the current system works ok, and forgiveness is not necessary when a little cash penalty will do.

If your banned, your banned...but i guess a second chance is nice. But them on like prohabtion, any bad contact when they play Halo 3, they get banned again.

  • 06.22.2006 10:52 AM PDT

Don’t get mad if I flame you because you cannot spell, or because my three year old has better grammar and etiquette than you.

If you were caught cheating perma ban, plain and simple. I dont know why MicroSoft isnt banning these people it is a violation of the XBL terms and conditions. SO F Them
