Popularity contest hope show who are the real "cool kids" and not just "wanna-be-cool-kidz". You know who I'm talking about, those kids who are like "I iz cool cuz i made dat one members list thread" Those people drive us all nuts. Or those kids who try to be cool cause they have "mythic" even though no one has ever seen them before.

If we had popularity contests on a regular basis it would keep punks like these for pretending to be cool and/or popular when they aren't.

Do you guys agree?

Just an Average Joe...

I think threads like these, just show how truly bright some people are.

Keep up the great work.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

I don't think popularity contests would have much point here. For the most part, those with larger egos and lack of merit for said egos are largely ignored, while those who strive to contribute to the community garner respect from other users, and, in, in time, popularity. Personally, I wouldn't care too much for popularity contests, as I feel they would be pointless.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I don't know whether or not this is supposed to have a humorous purpose or if it is serious.

If serious: I don't think so. Elitism will be the only thing people talk about until Destiny gains some steam.

...and I would never win one. So no.

Why so serious (not so much): Oh yes, let's over inflate burrito until his head pops and doubles the rate of global warming.

ALL HAIL GABEN

I think I can speak for the Community on this one. We all love popularity threads and the sense of posting in them and having people say, "Oh ya, I know you." Makes you feel good. Even though we love to post in them, they are unhealthy for the Community.

It's like a nasty addiction one can't rid themselves of. It is cool to see people go "Hey, I recognize your posting pattern/avatar/name etc..", but we'd be better off without it.

Step 8: Kill Th3 Invader

As fun as they can be, it quickly spirals into a "I hate this user" thingy. Sometimes.

Still, it'd be nice to get to know some of these new faces around. And old faces.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Does popularity really matter?

Essentially, no. However, it makes us feel like we are important to the Community. That counts for something.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

Essentially, no. However, it makes us feel like we are important to the Community. That counts for something.
But it also excludes others, and in the limited community we have that isn't good.

No problem being popular, but it should never be turned into a contest or a sport. Especially over the internet where people get hurt for real.

Be careful, vanert! You forgot to include an "OT:" in your post! You might ruin the fun!

OT: I would vote for the underdog in every poll just to corrupt the results. Voting for the obviously less popular = the involvement of money in decisions made in US government.
