Controlling fission events without incident since May, 2012.

Hi there Bungie Universe folk. This forum seems none too lively, as of late. Hopefully your noses perk up at this.

Something I've often wondered is where video game artists draw their inspiration from. Since high school, I have been aware of the T4 bacteriophage. It is a virus that infects E. coli, and looks absurdly similar to a flood infection form, at least to me. I actually think about The Library each time I glance at a TEM scan or artists' rendition of one of these parasitic lovelies. If anyone knows better than I as to what living & fictional things informed the creation of the infection form, or any other Bungie creature, let me know. I am curious.

On the off chance that anyone else has noticed the T4/Infection form similarity, kudos (My nerdiness is affirmed)! If not, are there any other creatures of the Bungie Universe whose artistic inspiration you've wondered about? If so, share yo' thoughts!

I'm of the opinion that Bungie put in a fair bit of original work while constructing their collection of alien species. The anatomical forms are apparent for many, yes, but there are distinct differences as well.

As to the Flood, go on? I've not heard of Starhammer, and wasn't aware that Bungie had made use of its universe.

Well now that you mention it...

This is it

But seriously, Robt McLees said his inspiration was old, rotten fruits and vegetables. As for the Carrier Form, you don't want to know. *shudders*

The characteristics of the flood is a direct reference to the Vang in starhammer, the appearance? not so much but the same concept. Hell they(343I) even nodded that universe further with the frog like creature in the new terminals. in which the race that built the starhammer were more or less frog/alligator like.

Hell the whole "instant communication" the flood have was "taken" directly from Ender's Game as well. So there are many infulences.

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

I've made a thread on what I think the artistic inspiration of the Flood is.

I think the infection forms are like plant bulbs. This diagram is probably better.
