I've played many games now where someone will bug exploit or be AFK in a game, and yet there is no admin around to boot them out of the match...

Wolfenstein was of the few that have have the option to kick people, which is a very good idea... But they did one thing wrong.... Actually two+, now that I think about it...

1. People that don't vote seem to automatically become "no"... Instead, people that don't vote shouldn't be counted all together... Why should we be punched for someone that is intentionally TKing their teammates because people won't vote? Make it that it adds up the total votes, and if the yes are more then the no's, then the vote passes, if it ties and/or noes are more then yes, then vote fails...

also, in cases of TKing, only teammates should be allowed to vote since it's agenist their own team.... I've been in matches where the other teams people will vote no because they want him to continue to TK the other team.

2. Also, this time around... You should beable to tell people WHY you want something to happen...

Keith started a vote to kick LocalTownIdiot because he is cheating!
General Fox started a vote to kick LocalTownIdiot because he is team killing!
Ishootyou started a vote to change map to such and such because this map has been played this ammount of times...

Please, feel free to post what you think...

No matter what system you choose it would ultimately be flawed. If people that didn't vote are not counted that means a single person can boot someone if everyone is too lazy to vote. If you have a system like Counter-Strike where you need a minimum of 60% yes votes... how can you be certain even 60% will vote, let alone vote yes?

All in all, in Halo2 when a host leaves, the game continues ... and the host duties are transferred to another player. But again, this can present a problem like if the host duties are transferred to someone who is already AFK.

Of course though...

There is always the timers that have existed in some games where if players stay in one spot ( violating a camping rule ) for more than say 3 minutes then they will be booted. Though some knobs can rest their gamepad on the floor and make his player spin in circles, that is unlikely to happen often. In games like Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat they have systems where you can choose to forgive a TK or not. 3 Non-forgivals and you're gone.

Maybe when the host drops the duties are transferred to another player but they cannot do anything until the game is over (just for the sake of finishing the map so to speak) Then after the map is completed, a vote will take place (mandatory) to choose who the next host will be. Then again, another problem and that's internet connection speed.

You try to fix one thing and it creates a problem. Try to fix the problem that you got from fixing the one thing creates more problems.

It's sort of weird like that. :)

I'd like that option to be present, but I agree with DopeyFish's argument entirely. The voting would have it's own problems almost any way you did it, but you need something to get rid of chronic TKers or cheaters.

I don't think there will be a vote to kick/ban in halo 2. I think that each game will be individual instead of linked in a patterned series like you'd see in a counter-strike server. Only xboxes with people playing would log on to current games around the net. I might be wrong, though.

If you can make a mandatory vote this way, why not take the first idea and have that include a mandatory vote? Only in-between matches if it's mandatory though.

then we could simple have it that the vote needs at least 1/4th of the people to vote for it to be seen as successful or not (incases where more people vote no)..

and like all voting, it should last for at least 30 seconds to a 2 minutes to give people time to get out of a hard situation to vote (unless everyone votes before hand).

maybe for a manditory vote, it forces people to vote for such things... I think that it is very important to get someone to host who is responcible enough not to abuse their powers...

Speaking of kicking/banning people, do you think it is reasonable that the moderators in the forums kick somebody?
So that totally unacceptable behaving people will be banned for a few hours or so.

yes, people have been kicked out and banned before, (not by the mods) and it will happen again, altough i hope not.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'm probably a member for just a too short time to realize stuff like that. I'm not saying I want banishment, but sometimes there is a lot of hatin' going on, and some people take it as their task to continuously oppose other opinions and make fun of the others.

we're talking about in game not on the forum :P

and mandatory votes in-game would be too silly. It would be in the way, and can get very annoying which could eventually lead to people leaving the Halo2 community.

I like the kick/ban system in Battlefield 1942. A minimum of people (25%) must vote in order for the vote to count. Then you first get kicked, then banned (2 min) then banned (5min) and then you get blocked for 24 hours. Also the only power the host gets is to start/end the game. Also after a number of TK or self kills you are auto banned.
