Subject: When Active Bungie.net Members Go Dark

No, ExcessiveFaun6 is not my real gamertag.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

I'd say it kind of gives the forum a sense of oscillation, and helps to keep things from being stagnating. It's always a shame to see one who's posts you enjoy go inactive for a bit, but always a pleasure when they come back (and they always do).
Edit: typo.

This may surprise you, Burrito, but not all activity on this forum revolves around you and others like you.

Questionable

Never curse a failure. Learn from your mistakes so that if you are lucky enough to get a second chance, you can avoid repeating the same mistakes. And have a greater outcome.

Personally, my activity depends upon what I have going on in my life. If I got free time, I'll get on and interact with my fellow community members. But if I'm busy, like I have been for the majority of the last year, I won't even log in for long periods of time.

As for how the community is affected, I feel as people come and go you see shifts in the type and "feel" of discussions. Not to mention the slow change in personalities.

Hey, guys, what's going on in this thread?
Someone tell Kivell that he is a lie.

I was going to leave it be until the last, quite rude, sentence. So now I have to call you out on stupidity. Sorry.

First, I link you here.

Second, I find it incredibly odd that you would make such a rude insinuation without even knowing what you are talking about. For instance. I made my last post in a sarcastic manner. I was mocking you for making such a ridiculous statement with the implication that anybody would ever have thought otherwise- in regards to the post I quoted. Then I note that due to Bungie being dark for over a year, many people have left and the forum sustains itself. Thus the statement becomes an incredibly obvious one. I could have just as easily said 'thanks captain obvious.' Unfortunately, it seems subtlety is a lost art when not talking to 'others like me.'

So if by 'others like you,' you mean people with the intelligence or common sense to look beyond what a child might see from a text, then I think it is quite a shame that the forum is not populated by 'me and others like me.'

... And that is why you don't call people out in a rude fashion when they have done nothing to warrant it.

Thats is what I call a Burritopown....

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

There isnt much of a point visiting this website until we have something new to discuss.

It kind of saddens me.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

No, not really. I don't really know a lot of people on Bnet. I recognize them from their posts but we don't hang out. . . .literally or figuratively, in groups.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

Bungie Day '11 Community Mosaic Thread

everybody listen to mac2po he is 100% right

In the private group I was in lost a lot of activity from past members (me being one) it turned into a ghost town. The main Community is way to large for this to happen though, there are new members coming in regularly replacing those who can't find the time to check in now and again.

Nothing would happen if I stopped posting, but it would be boring and people would be sad if my friends on here stopped posting.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

I know a few people that have retreated to private groups, but otherwise most the familiar faces that were, still are. As such, things seem fine. Even if a bunch left, I'm sure most would barely notice.

Just as long as the Dragons don't go anywhere. If that happens, then Im blowing this Popsicle Stand.

It doesn't affect my activity but it's a bit sad seeing good people go.

  • 09.05.2012 5:31 PM PDT

I am a Floodian

Does it affect my activity? I'm not so sure that their leaving affected my activity, or if the daily stresses that caused them to leave have simply had a lesser effect on me.

GOAT

Rip Iceman assassin, eight o state, cardenio, done dl, and.. the man with who consistently trolled the Halo 3 forum.. Boost something.

He's the only one I really notice gone. But I remember frequenting the Halo 2,3 and optimatch forums with him.

Though a well known user leaving doesn't effect me. I take my share of leaves. I mainly come here now because I'm fed up with waypoint, and this site is so much better than it anyways.

How do you think it affects The Community or you personally when your friends or people you know stop posting as much or completely at all?
It doesn't really affect me in any way. If anything, they might get a reference like "If (insert absent member here) were here, (insert usual behavior of such absent member)".

Does it affect your activeness?Nope. I'm here on my own accord.

Or do you think there's no real affect at all?Real effects? No. There might be some "remember this user" threads in the groups they used to be a part of. Other than that, there would be no change in activity or behavior of the community.
