Subject: Do you think Bungie should start the hype?

Tag 'm and Bag 'm

Since Reach has been released Bungie has left us in the dark about their new game. But should they start hyping their game already?

While I don't mind all the darkness here but a candle would be greatly appreciated, and could get people fired up for their newest game. I don't know how it's with you guys/girls but I don't feel excited for their next game, mostly because we don't know anything. Their isn't even much speculation on the forums, most of the chatter here is about Halo 4, a non Bungie game. I think Bungie should start lighting up some candles so we Bungie fans get some info without actually being told anything so we can speculate and start the hype.

Maybe Bungie should release a achievement every week or something small like that. Anything is better than nothing, right?

We aren't here to ruin your experience (Well Qbix is).

No. I can wait.

Someone mentioned Destiny in E3 2013. That's a good idea IMO.

@spaboolly

There's a difference between hype and legitimate advertising and excitement for a new game. If Bungie needs to resort to hype in order to generate interest in their game, I'll be disappointed.

Well Bungie won't hype the game, we do. All they would do is give us some info and the community will hype the game. As we have always done.

The hype started last year with the latest vidoc.

I'm not going to comment on what they should do. I trust them to do what's best.

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

Well "Hype" left Reach lacking the eyes of the fans, so I don't think so.

And with the release of avatars, t-shirts, "faction" names and Bungie's contract with Activision the hype has only increased. It isn't at peak level yet because we don't know jack -blam!- about the game but I'm sure once trailers and stuff are released the hype shall come naturally from the fans. Not from Bungie itself.

Bungie builds hype by keeping us in the dark. It peaks our curiousity.

Realistically they've never started revealing major details about their next game until around January / February / March anyways, and since this is a completely new game and not just "Oh, it's Halo again, we'll start talking about some of the changes later", they'll want to give us our first look at the universe with a ton of information to back it up I hope. So it might be a while more...

I'm a stubborn guy. I love to argue my opinion, but unlike others, I'll try to see your side of the problem. I'm a triathlete, with a very heavy empephis on the swimming bit. Also, don't hate on the ~Quinton~ at the end of my posts. Why are you still reading this? #creeper #hashtagcashmoney for hashtaging on Bungie.net

I do believe in the Acti-Bungie contract that the first "Destiny" game is slated for a fourth quarter release in 2013. At the moment they have anywhere from 13-16 months until release. So we do have a little(long) bit of time.

However I am hoping that they will do a very itsy bitsy teaser trailer before this year is out. Maybe at the VGA's, despite me hating them. Or around Christmas time, like a present to the community. You could run into religious problems with that though.

And I've only been around when they work on Halo, so I don't know how much time usually elapses between universes before their big reveal.

This was released on Dec.19, so I don't see any religious problems getting in the way.

Bungie's already started creating hype.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

This ain't true. Normally they reveal their games at e3 or in September (like ODST (even though they wanted it to be at e3) and Halo 2).

For Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, we had one year and three months from announcement to release. So my guess is we are going to see something this month. ;)

"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle- victorious"

The darkness is creating the hype. It's increasing our curiosity.

I say they release a single podcast. In said podcast, they don't mention their new game, they just talk about the development process in general.

In the gaming industry, there are these people known seldom as sharks whom are out to steal ideas. Bungie is wise to wait, as you can see how other LLCs have this problem.
