Subject: Bungie Friends List?

I wanted to become a recognized member of the flood, then I took an arrow in the knee.

I mean b.net members, not XBL. Do you think that it would be a nifty addition to b.net? It would be nice to be able to see which of your favorite members are on, and maybe be able to see their latest posts. Thoughts?

A stalking list you mean? Sure, why not?

I was the first Spartan. And I will be the last. Mythic on 9/1/2012 never forget
PAX 08, Third Team against Luke and Shishka, AR dual to
the Death, won by one point... Assembly hasn't changed.

urk: "This is a bad idea."
DeeJ: "Hold still..."

Pretty sure this was semi-sort of kinda confirmed in the new hotness (yeah yeah poor kitty).

If it was functional I wouldn't be against it as an addition in Bungie.next. That being said, I'd need to what function it was serving and be able to stop the obvious inundation of friend requests I would be receiving.

There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

I second the motion.

I know a lot of people would like this, however every time I used to ask Achronos about it he would get furious and exclaim "this is not a social networking site!" So, it may not happen if that is the general consensus, but DeeJ seems to be very down to earth in terms of the Seventh Column. Anything is possible.

I'm in favor of this. But only if the list doesn't show online status. The last thing this site needs is a stalker who knows when you're online.

Key

Only if there's an instant message feature. Otherwise there's no point.

  • 09.04.2012 5:52 PM PDT

It would make sense to have one now. Destiny will probably be heavily integrated with Bungie.net, and that fact that the game is eventually going to be multi-platform, it's logical that there would be some sort of list that isn't exclusive to xbox live.

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

That would be great to stay closer of your friends here at b.net.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

But that would mean I'd have to make friends on here again. I'm a bit out of practice.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

It could be fun, as long as it didn't turn into a size competition.

I'm actually kind of surprised there wasn't a link made between your XBL friends and their Bungie.net accounts (a list of their Bungie.net accounts specific to you) put in a long time ago.

Check out my Soundcloud account to hear some of my music.
Here's my twitter, in the off-chance you want that too.

Like a modified XBL friends list that would show which of your friends have bnet accounts? It would remove the whole guessing aspect of who's got a bnet account.

Or have I misunderstood what you were talking about?

Right now, I could care less of a friends list. Maybe when a chat system is implemented, then maybe I would be more interested. I think that would contradict the point of a forum though.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Well I'm glad to hear that Achronos is not in favor of the feature. I wouldn't really know what to do with it other than keep tabs on what the Bungie Employees post.

I could do with one of those.

Yes please :)

Whisper Game Studios - shhhh, it's a public secret.
Webcam MVP
Sarsion.net
Bnet PM Policy

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

I know forum-based friends-lists are all the rage on most sites, but I see absolutely zero merit to them unless they provide additional functionality that would only work between two mutually agreed "friends".

An example of this (though not a suggestion by any means) would be instant messaging, or collaboration posting (which is a separate idea I just came up with, where two users can work on a thread at the same time, and when it posts, it shows both authors as the OP...genius! But I digress)...anyway, you get the point.

I don't see much use for it, but my vision is narrow in terms of what Bungie has in mind for their future. I'm sure if they decide to do it, it would make sense with their game in mind.

  • 09.05.2012 12:15 AM PDT

I think it will be neat.

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

Sure, but it should have the same type of system that Xbox Live does in terms of friend requests.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

It think it would have to work like the Xbox Live version, where one person ends it, but isn't friends with the other person unless they accept.
Probably could still work though maybe.

  • 09.05.2012 6:52 AM PDT

First friend lists is a common option of forums, but private groups give you the same thing, seeing if someone is "online" isn't a useful function because that doesn't mean they aren't busy.
It would be super cool to link b.net with XBL with a friend-ish list in mind, but that would be an agreement between bungie and Microsoft, and imo, those don't normally benefit Bungie as much as they do MS.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

A friends list would have been pretty useful 4 years ago.
