Subject: If the lesser ark is installation 00 then ?

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

It's obvious the Ark in Halo 3 was destroyed; too soon in my opinion, Bungie wrote it out before we knew much about it. Which is probably 343i's opinion too, hence why they've created the Greater Ark/Lesser Ark situation.

Exactly what i said. I have gotten tired of bungie introducing something that is suppose to be insanely important and destroying it within the same game.
So, exactly what did 343i do with Onyx?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

But that was in a book where they don't arbitrarily destroy things.

It might not have been arbitrarily destroyed, but it was arbitrarily ignored (until further notice anyway). I don't see why whatever is going to take place on Requiem couldn't just as well have happened in Onyx.

It wasn't ignored it was brought up in reach though Karen is ignoring elements though. requiem is a type of prison Onyx was a get away.

Mendicant Bias sends John to the Forerunners at the end of Halo 3; at the end of Ghosts of Onyx, Halsey scans the Onyx Dyson Sphere and states that there are no Forerunners present.

I would say that the greater ark is Installation 000. Why there is a three page debate over the destruction of the lesser ark I have no idea.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

We don't know exactly what level of catastrophic damage the Ark took when the Halo fired. 343 said it would destroy it, but I don't see the whole thing being vaporized so there must be a lot of salvageable wreckage... that is if no Sentinels survived or weren't brought in from other installations to repair and refit.

Also, how do we know the Greater Ark can't produce a Lesser Ark replacement?

Obliterated, That word has a purpose nor would there be a purpose in rebuilding the ark. It's location would make it difficult not to mention all the other denying factors.

Obliterated still doesn't mean there isn't a lot of salvage out there that ONI could use, and will most likely take advantage of thanks to their new slipspace capabilities.

A Halo ring going off isn't the same as a fusion reactor. You do notice that we see not a single ounce of debris from The battle of the Bias or the 300 year flood war? Even for the vastness of space since all of these actions happened within 60 light years of earth somebody would have seen something.

A tactical fire is going to destroy everything. ONI isn't going to be able to travel to a random point outside of the galaxy.

That's not exactly what happened, Fred asked Halsey why the Forerunners weren't there, she said she didn't know. Halsey did not scan the surface the size of a small solar system. Not in TGoO anyway. She made an analysis based on the spectroscopic value of the sun and readings from Linda's scope, to find out where they were, and eventually, how big the MDS was.

I bet one can stand days at certain spots on Requiem without seeing any Forerunner, especially if they are in Crypum or something similar. The same would go for Onyx.

Sure, I guess one can interpret that there actually aren't any Forerunner there, but nothing says there aren't.
EDIT: oh, and if she scaned it for life-forms, she would have noticed that there were Huragok there... (Glasslands).

It was brought up by Karen in order to close that particular arc, and move the characters trapped within to another story. Onyx could just as well have been a/the prison.
When it comes to the destruction of Installation 00, all I will say is: exploding scaffolding...

Both of Karen Travis' novels state the installation wasn't finished and the forerunners never returned.

And if that were the Case the Sentinels wouldn't have ignored the spartans after a certain point.

Karens novels exist in correlation to Halo 4; they are in favour of Requiem, of coarse they render Onyx unusable - they decided to place the continuation of the story in Requiem. That just contributes to my point; prior to Travis novels, Halo 4, etc, whatever Requiem is, could just as well have been Onyx, since no evidence prior states otherwise.

That is a good point, how didnt anyone see the halo activation ? Let me answer, the effect of the halo was made only around our galaxy, which is 100,000 lightyears. So, inorder to see in time 100k years ago, you have to look outside our galaxy, so logically, bungie choose the year 100k years ago for a reason, that reason is that so no one from the galaxy can see the halo activation.

That dosent mean they arent a life form. Even if they have the power of a computer and only follows orders it still is a biological life form.

Still, the important thing to take away from this is that Halsey didn't scan for life-forms whatsoever.Posted by: grey101

There are two Arks because Bungie arbitrary destroyed something that had significance so 343I made another so it could actually be explained and explored.
Wasn't it 343 that confirmed that the Lesser Ark was destroyed? I recall Bungie pretty much leaving it open to speculation.

I'd imagine that either way the Ark would repair itself, then build Installation 04 III.

This Might be possible. We know there was damage to ark, and we know that even halo can repair themselves. So most likely.
