Subject: Why does it seem didact hates humans?

Perhaps he resents humanity because of the Librarian's love for us, a love that caused her to stay in harms way and eventually die. And die by his own actions to make it worse.

I think that if anything, that would make him want to protect humanity. He may not care for us, but he'd want to honour his wife's memory and the last thing she did whilst alive (as far as he knows) is save us.

We're her legacy. I don't think he'd be so eager to kill us.

I don't think the Didact we'll see in Halo 4 is the Didact at all, but rather someone posing as him. In the E3 trailer, his symbol was inverted for a reason.

His "unbound" state, according to Frankie. It may be the Didact, but something has happened to him to make him hate us.

Or maybe he doesn't hate us. Maybe he's defending something far worse; the Crawlers were described as being apart of the Promethean forces that "defend against Requiem's emerging threats." Perhaps he's attacking us to ensure we don't screw it up somehow. Just spit balling.

We should know better, because we are better.

343i canon: A contest to see how can be the biggest dick in the universe.

I am placing my money on Paragonsky and her whole "Halo mass manufacturing." and then her whole "the moment I die, I let go of this button that will activate my newly built array of Halos." after finding the Greater Ark, because we all know that ONI will obviously find the Greater Ark and manufacture Halo rings like they were rifles.

Please tell me you are joking. If 343i has ONI mass producing Halos I will be so disappointed.

Wouldn't surprise me to be honest, we are indeed talking of 343i after all.

Anger makes people illogical. Although it would make sense to honour his wife by defending humanity that's not to say he would actually do what makes sense. Revenge is a a way for short term personal gratification and anger clouds judgement making revenge look like a very important thing. I see no reason why the Didact would have to follow the logical path. I know if my wife died because she wanted to defend a bunch of people I wasn't too fond of to begin with I'd be pissed and want some sort of emotional compensation. In a perfect world everyone would do what is logical and right all the time, but it's not a perfect world and the Forerunner are far from a perfect race.

I really don't like the Didact as an enemy.

In fact, (in my opinion) he shouldn't be in the Modern Halo universe at all. What does he have to gain from fighting humanity again?

Next thing we know, Didact will become Sovereign and the rest of the extant Forerunners will become the Reapers.

Thel is Saren, yes?

I don't think the Didact in Halo 4 is a straightforward character.

Perhaps he thinks we'll make the same mistakes as the Forerunners. Perhaps he's actually the Master Builder. Perhaps he's testing our resolve, seeing if we are rightful heirs to the Mantle, which the Precursors originally held.

Perhaps he's a combination of Jacob Keyes and Sergeant Avery Johnson, mixed with Flood and a dash of salt.

The Didact will, I think, emerge as a very complicated character.

which ever Didact we will face in Halo 4 has probably spent the last 100,000 years thinking the Librarian died due to her affection for Human kind, If I were him I think I'd be pretty cranky too, and wouldn't pass at a change to vent some frustration.
