Subject: Halo: Reach and Halo 4......whats the fuss about?

Now before every one jumps down my throat, i'd just like to say i'd rather not have every one arguing and being Dbags in this thread.
Now i have some questions i'd like answered and i feel as tho you all will be the best to do it

i've been reading quite alot of threads about how 343i is killing halo, and they ruined reach and 4 will be horrable, and i'm just curious as to how

Now i know after the title update in reach 343 did some thing i amongst other did not like and i know people think it was an abomination from the start but what does that have to do with 4

Like as of right now what do we/you all know they are bringing from reach's matchmaking into 4's if anything at all

from all the videos and articles i've been reading on halonation.com it's seems like a pretty big overhaul from what Reach was but i could be wrong. so if you could enlighten me(and i'm not trying to be sarcastic here) how will they ruin halo 4?

More COD, less Halo.

  • 09.05.2012 10:58 PM PDT

Some people dont like change ... and will fight/deny anything which represents that.

Many of these same people will deny that COD has better online player numbers, and that these number could possibly mean that it is more fun to play.

Rent it, play it then buy it [or not].
Or buy it becuase your friends are playing and you want to enjoy the fun ... either way your call.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

It's really simple see.

There was only one problem that ever needed to be fixed with Halo.

That problem was matchmaking. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A SERVER BROWSER.

Instead, they cater to -blam!- retards who nitpick the -blam!- out of every little minor asset that they attempted to add to the game.

IE. They tweaked around with the assets, instead of giving US the tools to tweak it ourselves.

It is because of 343's lack of... realizing this simple little thing of giving the end user FULL CONTROL of their own gaming experience, that is sending them to hell in a handbag.

But you can blame most of it on the so called 'Competitive, everything has to be equal footing' Retards that focused all the attention away from the real problem.

Now look at the current playlist selections for Reach.
Now imagine that for Halo 4.

Competitive's, Bungie and 343. Think it's better... To force everyone into a limited selection of playlist. To force you to play THEIR gametypes. And if you don't like it, they slap a quit ban on you.

THE FACT THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO LIMIT THE PLAYLIST TO GET HIGHER POPULATION NUMBERS IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR SO MANY QUITTERS!

Let's make 1 playlist right?

That will give that playlist PLENTY OF POPULATION TO WORK WITH RIGHT?!?!?!

BUT WHY DO SO MANY PLAYERS QUIT FROM IT?!?!?!
DUHR I'M TO STUPID TO FIGURE IT OUT.

I KNOW... LET'S MAKE A QUIT BAN!!!!!!

JUST GIVE US A -blam!- SERVER BROWSER WITH SOME DEDICATED SERVERS YOU -blam!- MORONS!!!

And you competitive -blam!-s need to get on this bandwagon instead of wasting your -blam!- time nitpicking.

As for me? I guess I have to wait for Halo 5. Hopefully the rest of you will have realized something by then. If we're all still around anyway.

In other words. We don't have a proper means to host and find custom games. Because Competitive's -blam!-ed and cried about how people would abuse it to boost stats.

WHO THE -blam!- CARES ABOUT STATS?!?!?!

-blam!- LOSERS DO!

What were your stats like on Halo 1? I DON'T CARE!
Halo 2? I STILL DON'T CARE
Halo 3? WHO GIVES A -blam!-!
Halo Reach? At what point are you -blam!-s going to realize that leaderboards and stats are NOTHING! And they are certainly nothing worth holding a game back for. If it comes to a choice between innovation or leaderboards. I PICK INNOVATION!

Why do I have to play the same gametypes as you just so you can compare yourself to me?

And if anyone mentions customs. Go -blam!- kill yourself. Because in it's current form of "Friends only" it's no substitute for what matchmaking provides. Which is targets to shoot at. A Casual Solo player is not going to have any fun with customs in it's current form. GET IT?!?! Do you understand that part yet?

Since I doubt that you do... I'll explain it.
A casual solo players friend's list, is pretty devoid of the necessary requirments to get a custom game going. It's not fun to play a custom game BY YOURSELF! It's stupid to expect the greater majority of Solo players to want to randomly add complete strangers to their friends list just to play 1 custom game. I won't -blam!- do it. And neither do they. Because after 1 game, I'm most likely deleting you from that list. Because I do not enjoy playing the same people over and over again.

I buy X-BOX live for access to the MILLIONS! of other players. Not just the ones on my friends list. Which is why customs is currently the biggest -blam!- joke ever.

All because 'competitives', the ones who most likely do have a friends list that supports their move to customs. Don't want random players joining their custom games. And that's why us randoms can't use customs.

Yet, get this... how many times have you heard a 'competitive' tell a random to go play customs to get better?

I know. it's -blam!- retarded. It pretty much sums up how -blam!- ignorant competitive players really are.

Ok now no offense but i read all this in another thread. And i sort of agree.
I've always hated how when i play BTB with my brother and i want to plat 1 flag or nuetral bomb, I get stuck with heavies or slayer

I hate whenever i want to play on different maps like Breakneck or Ridgeline or anything thats not a variant of forge world i get stuck with Hemorrhage or Rasu

I really hate how everytime i play the teams are never balanced. And everyone always says "oh yeah lol cuz rank=skill not" yet rank really does equall skill lol in most occasions if your facing an inheritor they're quite good and have been playin religiously for like a year. I'm pretty good from my halo 3 days so i went into reach with a considerable amount of skill but it still sucks when my hole team is warrant officers and theirs is eclipses and nobles.

so yeah server browsers like Battlefeild 3 would be awesome i could see who's in a game and on what map and what game they're playing and if i want play something else i can just keep scrolling till i find what im looking for. if battlefield 3 can do it then 343i should have no problem lol

Anyways this is all besides the point i dont want to argue about server browers and such. what i really meant is what are 343i doing in 4 that everyone's been -blam!-ing about in reach. IE no more sword block, no reticle bloom, ect. what of all the things people are -blam!-ing about are they guaranteed to bring over to the Halo 4 experience?

First off, reach is nothing like H3. And you werent good at all at H3, so that wouldnt have mattered anyway.

Second, if you want to even the teams, or get the maps/gametypes you want, play with a full party.

If you cant get 3 other people to play with you, you must have the worst personality ever. There is no excuse to not make friends with people over the internet....

Stop complaining and do something about it.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

I can come up with plenty of reasons why it's harder than you think to find friends to play with.

I don't know what internet you've been using... but 99% of the people I ever met in matchmaking from Halo 2 all the way to Reach, are not worth putting on my friends list.

Their worth only goes as far as the worth of the target they provide for me to shoot at.

And... lets say I do find these other 3 people to put on my friends list.. Well that only 1 team.. I still need an enemy team to fight against. So customs is still out of the question...right?

Then....consider, how boring it's going to eventually become playing with the same people all the damn time.

I have no problem, making friends. It's the problem of having to go out of your way to make these friends just to be able to play a game. Why do I have add people to my friends list to play with and against them? Matchmaking doesn't require that of me. So why does customs?

I already know the answer:
Competitive: "Customs is friends only because we don't want randoms joining our custom game... and apparently we are so short minded and can't look beyond our own K/D ratios to realize that there are other more logical solutions that can solve our problem with randoms joining our games."

this is the kind of negativity i was trying to avoid lol

Now i do have plenty of xbox live friends who i know IRL and have met in games like Reach but alot of people i know have stoped playing Reach bcuz of how terrible its gotten.i as well stop playing for quite some time cuz i was fed up. but i'm trying to freshen up if you will so i wont be as green when 4 comes out.

and what the -blam!- are you talking about 3 and reach are not the same at all. i know they're different games but you still aim the same, grenades bounce the same, you jump the same height, most of the weapons that returned shoot the same . these things are all the same so yeah dude the multiplayer experiences are pretty similar on that level. i'f i can throw a grenade at your feet and aim at your head with a BR i can do the same in Reach with a DMR.

and like i said i wasnt amazing at 3 but i was pretty good. i didn't go into matches and come out negative with 2 kills. i tend to go positive and get a considerable amount of kills. but i didnt ask what you thought my skill level was.

i asked what of all the stupid things they changed/added to Reach are they diffidently bringing to 4. how different are Reach and 4's multiplayers really going to be. i hear all this complaining about zero reticle bloom and no more sword block and -blam!- and i just want to know what of all that -blam!- is going into 4?

we'll start off slow. If you had so many friends, you wouldnt complain about searching as a random. You would play with them... Unless you are lying, and dont really have any friends, which seems likely.

Now you saying reach and H3 are similar is just a testament to how bad you are at both. You dont jump the same height, reach has significantly shorter jumps. The grenades do not bounce the same, H3s move much more. There are few returning weapons, and even less so that function the same. The BR and DMR are totally different weapons, not only do they fire at different rates, but the DMR shoots much farther, and most notably is hit scan while the BR was spread. H3 also had equipment, not AAs, which are game changing on their own. Of course player speed is lower on reach compared to H3, and those still arent all the changes made.

There are a lot of changes being made to H4 none of which I feel like going on about right now. You will just have to wait and see. Anything else you would like me to disprove, or are you about done for the day?

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Do you see what I mean about nitpicking assets instead of getting control of those assets?

Bloom: You got a couple of TU that changed some playlist to include an 85% and a 0% bloom setting.

Here's what I would have done.
SERVER BROWSERS! So that each host can specify for themselves what they want their server to provide.
Then, when I look through a list of rooms to join, I can see information of what bloom settings this particular person put on his room.

Instead. we get a limited selection of playlists to choose from.

QUIT -blam!- NITPICKING GAME ASSETS! AND GET CONTROL OF THEM INSTEAD!

IE. 1 guy sitting in an office at 343 studios is telling everyone what to play. HE is the one making the playlists. NOT YOU! Your only choice is to sign up to a forum and beg and plead and hope that he notices your suggestions and then implements them. THAT'S THE DUMBEST -blam!- BOTTLENECK EVER!

so are you saying 4's multiplayer will be drastically different from reach or not. you disproved what i said with alot of solid evidence and made a very valid point to wich i agree. i should have done my research lol but you haven't answered my main question. you obviously have a considerable amount of knowledge between the games so if it's not to much trouble good sir i would very much like you to "go on about it" right now. what are the changes?

P.S. not trying to start a fight but i did state that all my live friends have stopped playing reach so thats why it's difficult i mean i have a few but none are on at the same time any more.

What happens when the host abuses the game assets and stack the teams as what usually happens in games that have server browsing?

Will you quit? Just to end up in another server that has the same problems?

If a host of a server chooses to abuse it. He's going to find out real quick. nobody is going to join his server.

Server Browsers naturally weed out undesirables. Because we actually get a choice on wether we want to play your crap or not. GET IT?

I mean, is there something so wrong about immediately quitting out of a dumb server? To find a newer better one? NO!

The problem is most hosts in server browsing games abuse it to the point where there are only a hand full of good servers left so what happens when you have 500 people trying to join 3 servers that can only hold a certain amount a players?

You host your own.... And host something worth playing.

Do I have to explain every step of the way how server browsers work?

Go -blam!- look at PC games if you need that much of a description of it.

You do realize that server browsers also for the most part support p2p. Dedicated servers are mostly for those instances in which the game is TOO BIG to be hosted by p2p standards.. such at 64 player games.

Server browser does not mean that p2p is completely eliminated.

That's your opinion. Because I never have a problem finding good servers to play on.

Maybe you play stupid -blam!- and they don't.

That's why you like matchmaking right. Because matchmaking insures you get fodder to shoot at in your stupid gametypes right?

Because I wouldn't play half the -blam!- that matchmaking tries to force on me if I didn't have too.

The longest it takes me to find a game a server browser environment, is about as long as it takes to refresh the list. which is about 20 seconds at the most. After the list is created I hit a few filters.. and BAM I find a room.. This all happens in less than a minute.

Now look at Halo.

I have to choose a playlists. Then I have to wait for the lobby to fill.. (2 minutes have passed already waiting for the lobby to fill)

Finally the lobby fills and I can see peoples names.

They vote for something stupid.

Someone dashboards.

Game starts

Someone quits
...

etc. etc.
etc.

I'm sorry, -blam!- MATCHMAKING!

The only reason people quit from a server browser environment is because of skill levels.

The reasons people quit from matchmaking?
Map, Gametype, settings, people. you name it. . the list goes on and on.

[Edited on 09.06.2012 12:55 PM PDT]

  • 09.06.2012 12:49 PM PDT

I like the matchmaking in other games(not reach) because they match me with players that are of similar skill level and that also matches parties of players with other parties of players. Server browsers end up creating unbalanced messes that the host creates. You might get into a server that has the settings you like but that doesnt eliminate the threat of the host booting people or taking advantage of the team switching options that are in server browsing games.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

Here's laymans terms for you all.

This is how you properly match people up.

1: What's your internet connection like?
2: What Map do you like?
3: What gametype do you like?
4: Do you like big games or small games?
5: etc etc etc

Then you go about giving a person a list of rooms to choose from that match that criteria. You don't just toss them into a room.. YOU GIVE THEM A CHOICE!

Halo. Does things backwards.
You pick a playlist and that's it. You're expected to play whatever it throws at you.. whether you like it or not. I.E I'm being tossed into a room, instead of givin multiple rooms to choose from that fit my preferences.

And you wonder why people quit so much?

-blam!- YOU!
