Subject: The Halo Array?

A thought that popped into my head recently was when the Halo Array fires, does it also have a way to fire into Slipspace as well because that would seem to be a bit of a hole in the defense if so.

I would think that, because the galaxy would be cleansed of life in a mere matter of seconds, if there were ships in slipspace en route to somewhere then they'd have to be extremely lucky.

Yea i know quite a bit of luck would be involved in such a case but it is Possible, in theory though?

Fixed, look at the terminal countdown.

Man, I am extremely rusty on some parts of my Halo Knowledge. Methinks it's time to spruce up on said knowledge.

If it could fire into slipspace then the shield worlds would be useless. IIRC the shield world in GoO was a dyson sphere trapped in a slipspace bubble and that was deemed a safe haven for the forerunners.

I guess it'd depend on the drive. Covies are faster than UNSC ships (they've always been faster), and I'm guessing Forerunner ships are faster than covies (Chief seemed to be in the exact same spot he was when he boarded the Dreadnaught).

Besides, if you know it's gonna fire, just plot a course that's waaayyyyy far off, and cruise for a while.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

No, the firing of the Halos do not affect slipspace - a primary explanation for the Micro Dyson Sphere being encased in a slipspace bubble.

How did it take us 10 years to figure this out?

Yes, but how does then the halo cleanse the galaxy ? I mean the flood used slipspace, how could the forerunners gurantee that the flood werent in slipspace the moment they fired ?

They'd have to know in advance. It's not like they were listening in on their radio signals.

And the only reason the forerunners didn't "slip" away from the blast is because they didn't feel worthy of holding the Mantle after committing galaxy-wide xenocide.

(To discuss Halo 4.)

It would almost certainly affect slipspace because otherwise anybody could hide in a regular slip space rupture.

A shield world is an entirely different story, like the one in Halo Wars, it is more of a physical barrier than a slip space one.

Onyx centre was encased in a bubble because that made it very hard to find physically. That doesn't mean you need slip space to escape the Halo array.

And the Forerunners can fire into slip space, so the Halos working there isn't a big issue.

There would be way to many plot holes if it couldn't fire into slipspace, especially because its range is 3 radii from the galactic center, chances are at least a portion of the Flood is in slip space at the time.

slipspace was getting more an more unusable towards the end of the war to the point that only life workers were allowed to use it. Slipspace was unstable for the flood as well hence why Mendicant Bias was making stops on his way to the Orion Complex-in which he brought nearly all of the flood with him.

Any flood forms that for some reason weren't hit by the array would die out. All of this is common knowledge.

So it wouldn't matter if they were in real space or slipspace, because A) their main food sources would be dead anyway, and B) any Graveminds controlling any potential slipspace-dewlling flood would still die from the blast.
