well im wondering whether or not to buy the halo books. i understand the games very well, however would owning the books be a good thing to have? are they easy to understand? if i have them all read, i feel i will know every aspect of the game and will be set up for halo 3. but are the books worth the buy?

Halo: Combat Evolved ultra fanboy.

YES!! I love the books, both as a Halo fan and a reader. They are well written, true to the Halo universe, and real page turners.

100%!! They are a very easy read. I would say like a 10th grade reading level.

the books are most definitely worth it. the flood isnt so great though since it basically just regurgitates the halo 1 story but from a mixed covenant/human perspective. it also tells you what happened to several people from halo 1, like pvt. jenkins.

but first strike is a good read and reach is excellent, the best out of the three.

nice! im gonna buy all 3. it goes: fall of reach, the flood, and then first strike?

Yeah. They have a box set at borders in the Sci Fi section I think.

Yes. They may have thier problems with grammar and spelling, along with a couple plot holes, but they really fill in the Halo story and provide some excellent background on the MC. I especially like the filling The Flood did on Halo 1.

Yes! You should buy them. The books go deep into the story and explain everything perfectly. They also have the boxset in the bungie store

Im 12 and ive got this mate who always makes fun of me for loving anything halo related. Anyways we went on a school camp a week ago. We had just begun our 5 hour trip on the bus and i fishished the fall of reach and started the flood. So my friend, cody, picks up reach and starts reading it aloud. "OH HA HA HA HA HA HOW CHEESEY!" he yells. 50 pages later... "you finished with my book yet cody?" i say... No answer. "CODY!"
"Ah whoa ah yeah? sorry i wasnt listening... can i um.... please borrow this for a while?" he replies. For the whole week whenever he had free time he sat down and read reach. At the end of the week he had finished the fall of reach and was halfway through the flood when i had barly started it. Now hes gonna get an xbox 360 with halo:ce and halo 2 for his up coming b-day!

Skip The Flood. It's terrible.

The Flood was the worst of them all, but it still has some things that aren't in the game. I don't think it's anything major though. The Fall of Reach is by far the best one.

I think you would love them. Just don't quote them here, people get angry, then they eat rubber duckies. It would be suicidal.

Agreed. FoR is excellent even as a standalone sci-fi novel, whereas First Strike would be decidedly medicore, if it wasn't for the fact that being based on Halo instantly makes it more likeable.

Ya, I noticed a few spelling and grammer errors. Weird... The plots holes should be filled in Halo 3, so the books are a great source to help understand the Halo Universe.
