MsCadetUNIVERSEThe second Community Joes to bear the word 'Jane'.. females on this site are all too rare :/ anyway all hands on deck!
>> Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby.
Q: Who are you and what do you do?A: Well, I go by quite a few different aliases on the good old internetz, including Miss M, spaboolly, and MsCadetUNIVERSE (Cadet for short, or Cadit if your name is True Underdog). On rare occasions I go by the name Eileen, though even most of my IRL friends don't call me that very often.
As for what I do, I am currently the Editor in Chief of a gaming site called addicted-gamers.com. I'm sure a few of you have seen my articles spammed in private groups. Feel free to check it out. Beyond writing, I read quite a bit. I have my own library of over a thousand books. And, of course, I play a lot of video games.
Q: If I wasn't interviewing you right now what would you be doing?A: Probably still playing Minecraft. I dragged myself away from building my creeper-proof obsidian bunker just for you. But in general, I would be filling my time doing random activities. Reading, drawing, painting, more reading. I'm not much of an outdoor person (go ahead, TU, make your ginger jokes) but I sometimes enjoy biking as well. And I love the water. Whenever an opportunity presents itself, I'll do something more adventurous like water skiing or tubing.
Q: Awhh that's sweet of you :) Mountain biking? or motorbikes?A: Mountaing biking, yes. Unfortunately I no longer live near mountains, but I still enjoy the exercise. My mother is a big motorcycle fan, and I've been looking at getting into riding, but that won't be for awhile.
Q: That's awesome! What's the background of your username?A: The story of my username goes back to my high school days. I was quite the upstanding young Air Force JROTC cadet, and my junior year I was honoured with the most prestigious award given to a cadet by his or her unit. All the attention after the ceremony was bad enough, and everyone who knows me can tell you I dislike attention. So my best friend decided to turn it into a little prank. She got so many people in on it (including teachers) that whenever I went into my classes, people would stand up and start singing the "Miss Universe" beauty pageant song with the word "Cadet" added. Miss Cadet Universe, indeed.
Q: haha awesome, I got a few awards at Cadets too. What are your other hobbies/interests aside from gaming?A: Well, I've already touched on that quite a bit. Right now my biggest hobbies are writing and art. I have always loved writing, and I really enjoy doing it now for the website. I do quite a few game reviews, but I prefer my opinion pieces and other articles where I get to be more expressive. Oddly enough, I never really liked art. I took one beginning art class my freshman year of high school and failed it. But for some reason I've been compelled to take it up lately. I prefer painting because I enjoy working with colours, but I've also been practicing my pencil drawing.

Q: Wow they are amazing, some members wanted more dragons around here too haha! What was the original first Bungie game you played?A: That story goes back to the fall of 2002. But not in the way you might expect. My father wanted to get me one of the nice new Xbox game systems for my birthday, with Halo: CE, but I asked for a Gamecube instead, as I've always been a big Nintendo fan. It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I decided to save up some money and buy an Xbox 360. At which point I got Halo 3 as my first game. I had never played an FPS before, so I started off pretty poorly. But I drove myself through it on easy, learning basic shooter tactics as I went along. And by the end I had fallen in love with Halo's story. I then went back and played the other Halo titles. Which led me to eventually finding a copy of Myth as well, since I love strategy games.
Q: I take you enjoy Halo Wars then?A: Oh yes. I won't claim to be very good at it, but I do greatly enjoy it.
Q: What would be your ultimate weapon?A:I have always found military history quite fascinating (if you haven't learned that I'm a huge nerd by now, where have you been during this interview?). I consider myself a big fan of the longbow. But I'm going to bend the rules a bit and say that my ultimate weapon is a North American F-86 Saber. It was the first major US jet fighter to be used in conflict, during the early years of the Korean War. I was such a big fan of aviation history in school that I actually helped teach the course after I graduated. In fact, all of my tags in Halo are airplane designations: the F-86 Saber, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 Nighthawk.
Q: How do feel about you being so active on BNet?A: I never really expected to become so involved with a bunch of Halo fans on a developer's website. I really only used to come around for Urk's weekly updates. I had an account for nearly a year before I actually started posting regularly in the forums. That was at a low point in my life, and the community on Bungie.net actually played a large part in helping me through it. Since then I've become pretty active in groups and community events, and have made some very impactful friendships here. I hope I've given something back to the community as well.
Q: Awwh that's sweet, bunige.net's community can be very soothing. Are you looking forward to the next hawtness?A: Since I'm a newb, I have yet to witness a site update. So I can't really say I know what to expect. In general, one of my philosophies in life is to embrace change whenever it happens. It's inevitable, whether it's for the best or not. I suppose I'll just wait and see what the next hawtness will bring.
Q: That's alright. Would you have taken blue pill or the red pill in the Matrix?A: I've never actually seen the Matrix. I'm not much of a movie person. I prefer my books. But if you'd like I will make a random guess and say blue, because blue kicks ass.
CQ1: MiloOmega asks; how long do you think you could last in a fight against DeeJ? (Re-Requested)A: There would be no fight. DeeJ would be too intimidated to face me. I'm told I'm quite the terrifying person. I would just shoot DeeJ one of my signature death glares and he would back down, trembling and questioning his existence.
CQ2: Halfa55al asks; What other Bungie.net member have you gotten most acquainted with?A: I've made many important friendships on Bnet, especially in the last few months. Some of the people I met in these forums or through community game nights have become my closest friends. If I had to choose just one, I would pick evilcam. There are those who believe he and I are actually the same person, but I assure you we're not. Though we were definitely cut from the same cloth.
Q: Lastly, have you got any shouts you want to make?A: I think most of the people I owe my involvement in the community to know who they are. But I would like to acknowledge the people in Chapter and Bnet Regulars, particularly Spawn031, Index, onyx spartan, Hoobla 911, and especially Tom T. I've made too many friends here to list them all, so I'm sorry if I've left you out.
One notable group I've left out are all my friends who happen to be members of our esteemed staff of Forum Ninjas. I wanted to give all of you (yes, even Revan) a special thanks, because I know you don't always get enough appreciation for the services you provide to the community.
