One does not choose a destiny, his destiny is bestowed, shaped and formed, from the soul.

Ok, I know that political and religious threads are not allowed on these forums. But lets say someone makes one, but the discussion inside isn't bashing, it's a mature conversation. I've seen it before. Why wouldn't that be allowed? I understand you can't post about these things because it's bound to start a flame war, but a good amount of them usually end up without one, even before their locked. I think if the discussion is mature and in line, it should be allowed.

That's just my opinion.

As for the tool. If a user receives alot of reports for a post, let's say 7, they should be blocked from posting in that thread. Is that reasonable?

Political and religious threads always seem to get out of hand.

As for the idea, it might work if people didn't just report people that don't agree with their opinion.

But it's a GAMING community site - not vote for the next PM or President!?

No. People would get out of hand.

(To discuss Halo 4.)

Perhaps there should be a place, or a large group where such discussion can take place?

OP, seeing one thread have a mature conversation isn't the majority. Nearly every time I see a thread like that, it's up in flames before it gets to page two. One bad apple can spoil the tree on this, and with this, we have multiple bad apples.

We're better off safe than sorry.

Because the Flood cannot maintain its' composure for two minutes and Bungie doesn't want to waste resources babysitting such discussions.

You could always join a group that likes to discuss religion or political issues.

I've seen at least 20. No exaggeration there.

Don't quote me on this but I thought it wasn't allowed in groups either?

Diamond in the rough.I understand you can't post about these things because it's bound to start a flame warYou just answered your own question.
As for the tool. If a user receives alot of reports for a post, let's say 7, they should be blocked from posting in that thread. Is that reasonable? And at this point you are merely deviating from the moderation process and adding complexity to something that is already fine as it is.

So we can't discuss anything but gaming? Gotcha.

That's just inconvenient, there's no "official" group for those kinds of discussions. I'd prefer that we can discuss those topics in a single public forum with anyone who likes to discuss those kinds of things.

Pretty sure groups can do what they like as long as it isn't against the ToS. Places like TBC or Sec7s would be in trouble otherwise. :P

OT: I'm a member of a private group where we do allow those kinds of discussions, and even in that smaller and more regulated environment, things do tend to turn nasty more often than not. I just don't think you can allow those kinds of threads without someone deciding to be a dick and ruin things for the others.
