It's neat to see how long people have been on the site, but other than that I don't really care.

ooga booga boooh

Having been here for 4 years, no. It doesn't really mean much other than to have an input on how the site used to look.

As it's not true for everyone, usually the older are wiser. They've had the time to analyze how everything works, and will undoubtedly have better info than someone who joined a year ago.

By Burrito's logic, it means I know more about Bungie.net than him. :)
Nah. But it does mean that if you consider something in 2005 the 'better' days than just the vague 'pre-Halo 3 days' as I do, that's more valid. Tis true.
Those "Halo 3 days" are starting to become a blur to me :'(

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Not one bit.

Кланяються мені!

As far as join dates go I think everybody has their own version of the BNet "Glory Days". For example I joined during the peak of Halo 2. I enjoyed all of the discussions at the time alot. "Are all 50's hackers" "Superjumping should be bannable" SonicJohns "The Skulls Have Got to Be Cracked! And Soon!" megathread which I believe was deleted when pezza got hacked.

However I do agree that join dates aren't really important for true Bungie fans. If you are here, and you post actively you are ok in my book. As long as you try to avoid the obvious repeat thread for the billionth time!

I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

Yes, it absolutely matters. Too often people will post about the 'good times' or how things 'used to be.' Yet they joined in a time where they really just cannot have that valid an opinion on the matter. When people that are too new talk about how things 'should' be and the likes, it gets a little odd.

Add that to the whole 'alt' possibility. There are just certain topics that your opinion matters more on, or rather that you have a far better perspective of, when you have been here longer.
But what if we're here for the community now, and don't care who was who back in 2005?

I don't care about social status on the forums of a failing video game developer's website, based on when an individual decided to open their Halo 2 manual and visit said website, no. If I did, I'd probably at least be intelligent enough to recognize that I most likely need to do something of value in my life.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Join dates are a badge of honor. Some of us have seen some awesome -blam!- go here. I joined up in Halo 2 fun times and remember "New Mombasa" being the main forum. I miss them times.... Now I just sit on bungies porch drinking PBR and eat jerky watching all you youngsters raise hell

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

If it's a newer account I tend to be more cautious when they post links.

This is a fact for everyone here. I treat all members as equals...it's just that I treat some members more equally.

4.2
Why 4.2? strange number if you ask me.

Unless it has to do with 42.

Nope. It's all about the content of the post for me. I could care less if they've been here for x amount of days/months/years.

urk: "This is a bad idea."
DeeJ: "Hold still..."

I never look at the join date unless it seems like an obvious alt, or if its someone I've never seen and seems to have been around (in which case I'm curious hold old the account is).

Otherwise I use a system.

1. Title: At first glace is easy to see, so I can start making a guess if the post is good.
2. Member: I see who the member is, sometimes it gets switched with 1 because it pops. But combined they will give you a great idea about what is to come.
3. Burrito clause: nuff said.
4. Read post: Apparently reading the acutal post can tell you how good it is, still on the fence till more research funding comes through.
5. Never assume: I try to always give someone a chance, if they look like an alt, act like an alt, have a join date of an alt, but seem to maybe be possibly trying to make an actual post, I will act as if they are simply a new member. Its better to try to help the fake then damn the real.
6. Expect nothing: No matter who it is, they can post crap and at some point probably have, regardless of who. Never expect anyone to be above any level of immaturity, or believe that someone, simply because of who they are, is right.

Do you care how long membersteehee....

^^^And that is proof of number 6.

I don't check join dates. If its a troll post I just check to see if its someone spamming new troll alts (if I should brace myself for spam everywhere).

You aren't perma'd anymore?

What, you actually wanted to come back to the mains?

Oh, as for the topic, join dates don't matter at all. I'll remember the names of anyone of note. I do find it hilarious though when obvious new members try and act like their account is just an alt and they have actually been here for years and years.
