Subject: Do you care how long members have been here?

I do a little, but some people have more than one account. It's hard to tell how long someon's been on bungie.net sometimes.

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

No. Elitism is retarded, in any form.

JIM

Does this mean you're finally going to start posting more? <3

  • 09.08.2012 6:14 AM PDT

Yes, it absolutely matters. Too often people will post about the 'good times' or how things 'used to be.' Yet they joined in a time where they really just cannot have that valid an opinion on the matter. When people that are too new talk about how things 'should' be and the likes, it gets a little odd.

Add that to the whole 'alt' possibility. There are just certain topics that your opinion matters more on, or rather that you have a far better perspective of, when you have been here longer.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Anyone that wasn't created in the last month is fine with me.

I try not to judge by it. Besides, people can come and go over the years (as is my case) or change accounts, so join date isnt always a true mark of how long one has been on bnet.

Still...when I see a post that looks more ignorance than troll, I check sometimes.

  • 09.08.2012 6:58 AM PDT

Title bar usually gives you a an idea how long someone's been here, so I wouldn't go through the trouble of finding out. Usually. Even then, title bar has never really had any effect on how I respond to someone, unless there an absent members. Absent member title is sooooo kewl

If we don't use join date, how can we possibly discriminate?

We should know better, because we are better.

No, I never look at join date. It doesn't matter to me.

  • 09.08.2012 7:17 AM PDT

Not really. As long as they know what they are talking about I really don't care.

Not at all. If their posts are sound, that is what I care about. Rarely do I look at a join date.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

The only possibly-similar thought I've had here is "Hey, that guy has been around ever since I joined!". I've checked a few join dates simply out of curiosity but that's it. It doesn't affect my judgement or point of view of either the user or the content they contribute.

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

The only time I check join date is when I'm trying to decide whether or not someone's trolling.

Positive vibes.

There are a lot of great people on this website. Some have been around for a while, some haven't; but they're still equally as special.

And, regarding judging people based off of their title, I think a lot of people fail to realize that everyone who has a title on this website didn't always have that title. Each and every one of the members on website was a 'Member' at some point. So for one to judge someone based off of their title, or join date is absurd.

People's behavior and outlook toward other people on this website disgust me. Someone could have joined 10 years ago, and be a complete -blam!-, and they would respect him more than a kind, gentle member who joined one year ago; it's just ridiculous.

Nope. It's all about the content of the post for me. I could care less if they've been here for x amount of days/months/years.

Pretty much how I see it as well.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

You're just lucky you're Legendary too or I'd be giving you such a talking down to right now.

OT: It only really matters to me when someone talks about "the good times" or "back then" or they make reference to a joke or a thread. You can't or shouldn't talk about something you weren't there for. Other than that, whatever.

I judge people off their post and how they come across. I hardly ever check somebody's join date.

Nah. But it does mean that if you consider something in 2005 the 'better' days than just the vague 'pre-Halo 3 days' as I do, that's more valid. Tis true.

I don't. There are people who I've known for awhile, but that has nothing to do with their join date.
