There are 1,000,001 threads about people wanting a map editor and bots; this thread is my explanation of WHY there should not be either. (yeah I know its just another thread about the same thing, but I wanted to try and make myself heard rather than posting this a few more thousand times)
1st and foremost; I would rather see Bungie spending more time making more MP maps, testing and fine tuning the game rather than trying to add more features that will prove useless. I would like to see wall passage glitches fixed, super bounces removed and whatever else they consider cheating or unsportsmanlike like.
I say useless because even "if" they added a map editor you could not use it for ranked games, there would be too many maps out there to download and save because everyone and their mothers would be making them, even if they could be used in un-ranked matchmaking not everyone would have these maps, it would just hinder the loading times and make delays longer. I think we should leave the map-making to the real pros at Bungie.
As for bots, this is really a huge waste of time, its obvious Halo 3 will have enough people online where they will not have to compensate for lack of players online. But the key issue is that people are complaining about a internet connection/broadband, well if you don’t have a good or any connection the chances are you cannot afford the 360, the game or the live account, yes you will have to have a gold membership. So if you somehow have that but cannot access the internet or cannot afford the $20 a month DSL special stop eating out, get a part time job or find a way to make it work, but I am sorry the small percentage of you still on dial-up complaining her in the forums is not worth it.
I am a 29 year old father of three boys, My wife is going to school, I am the only one working and I still find a way to make it all work, so I imagine a kid in school with a ton of free time can as well. I don’t want to hear excuses of I live in a dorm or my parents won’t pay for it, well earn your keep kiddos.
Some people say Bots are good practice, and its easier to avoid unsportsmanlike like players, I think the 360 feedback system will be put into harder use when Halo 3 comes out and it wotn be as big of an issue as you are thinking. I have already seen drastic improvement in online play in other games already because everyone can see your records now. So it really wont be too hard to spot problem players to begin with.
I would love to hear more input on this, I am just hitting the tip of the iceberg here.
Most people that want bots are the ones that don't get high-speed internet service in their area. Bots would be used off-line play. I agree with everything you said, exept bots. Don't like them? Don't put them in your game, but Bungie should make them for people who don't have Live but want to get the most out of Halo 3 that they can.
