These are the kind of people you here about acting out violent video game scenes. Sickos.
Oh, grow up.
Please don't generalise with such brash and ill-thought-out comments. You are the kind of people that will have gaming used in court to prosecute a child who's been accused of dealing drugs because he played lots of Grand Theft Auto!
Violent films/games/television does NOT make people commit violent crime. The problem is deeper rooted - if a person has violent tendencies, then a violent game may encourage the behaviour they already want to commit. But would you honestly suggest banning horror/action/violence in all forms of media because a select few have deep psycological issues? Voilent media is not the problem - the issue here is defining the reasons why people have violent tendencies.
I watched predator, alien, die-hard, the exorsist, all before the age of ten.
I've seen the most grotesque films and images and to be perfectly honest I do dwell in the curiosity of it all. I find violence intriguing because it is something I am unable to comprehend. I don't want to kill somebody, because I have moral and ethical convictions that tell me it is wrong. But if a game allows me to run around with an AK-47, plugging pedestrians, terrorists or aliens, with no subsequent consequences, I will do it and enjoy it.
The people who commit violent acts after playing violent games are people who cannot differentiate between reality and fiction - and THAT my friend, is a WHOLE different issue.
Don't degrade gaming by turning it into a scapegoat for life's problems.
I want violence in my games - not ALL of them. But if they have guns and aliens in... I want blood too.
not true, havn't you heared of the story where a kid who was obbsessed with the grand theft auto games, murdered 3 people on the street, and the parents say all he did was play grande theft auto, go watch TCM, if you wana fill your need for gore.
you ask me, you should grow up. 1. That story was made up and never happened.
2. You obviously didn't read his whole post; all that "story" did was prove his point. Violent video games only nurture those with phsycotic tendencies (this "obbsessed" kid). The only affect they have on normal people is that they desensetize them to violence and gore, which is a good thing. As a lifeguard, I've gone through physical and mental training to prepare me for any situation in which my skills may be needed. Two fellow lifeguards (both girls) and I were walking home, when we saw some druggie wander out onto the street and get nailed by a bus. I found it hysterical, but the girls broke down and started shaking and weeping (the guy was mangled and bleeding). I went over and helped him. Then, one of the girls got her act together and called 911, the ambulance came, etc. The guy lived, but with brain damage. He would have died if I hadn't helped him. Now, what was the difference between me and the two girls? We went through the smae training. However, no offence to them, I was probably playing Doom and watching Aliens while they were playing with Barbies.
I believe Halo 3 should be realistically gory. If I shoot someone, I want to see a bullet-hole, not just a squirt of blood that materializes from nowhere.
