Subject: Thoughts on improving the quality of posting and general content

Ah, someone leaked. Now to find the leak and.... plug it.
With justice.

I use coup 5
Never Played halo 1 = Invalid opinion
Bloom isn't whats broken, its your idea of what good is and your opinion
Thats like saying uber nerf armor lock because like 20 percent of the community hates it. Oh wait..................

I'm not sure that Primo has ever looked at the stats from another forum before, because they quite clearly show that you get a much higher standard of posting across the board if you have much stricter posting regulations on everyone.
Absolutely not. History proves again and again that when we free posters from the restrictions of heavy-handed regulations and encourage free competition of content do we increase the overall quality.

This is the main reason i wish we could talk about all the taboo's over in the flood. Same sex marriage has been allowed lately by the ninjas because most of the time it stays quite civil. At least the ones i get into. i just wish there could be religion and politics conversations in the flood at least to p-ass the time in the dark... i understand why we arn't really allowed too seeing as how this is a forum about a video game. I honestly think that there are mature members here and i would find discussion on those things with them very fruitful and fun.

Black Chapter, for all religious and political debate that doesn't fit in the Flood.

I, for one, am a traitor to my bar. Why should the bourgeois blues get more rights? Privilege of age and seniority? Respect based on join date? This foolish nonsense is why we can't have nice things.

The title system isn't based on meritocratic principles, it's based on mediocrity. Why stand out, when the system will stamp you down? The ninja aristocracy are carefully chosen from those who won't rock the boat, and like every aristocracy in history they are inbred and flailing. They have no new ideas, and the bourgeois Mythics parrot their lines and ask us all to "play nice"!

Short of a shock site or leaving the site, one will never lose their bar for any length of time. What kind of justice is there when a mediocre and mostly absent poster can parade around in blue and enjoy more rights than the common member?

I stand with my brothers of all colours in denouncing these fiends. They seek to increase their power at the expense of all, entrenching their existing influence and power to allow them to freely discuss what no other would be allowed to do.

The answer, my friends, is simple:

Abolish the rules.

Give it a moment of contemplation and all would agree that the only means of progress is to do away with social norms and the oppressors who keep us down.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

The Black Chapter!

The opening post is a work of such egoistical, idiotic bull -blam!- that it doesn't warrant a response.
Yet you nevertheless responded to it. It looks like you are struggling to reconcile your instinctive distrust for the proposal with your deeper recognition that it is actually a very sound idea.

Whoo.

Us loyal to the Blue Party all agree and hope that there can be a significant lowering of the grey party some point in the near future, in fact we've been planning to construct these new "concentration camps" that will help them learn to be better members by concentrating more on the content at hand, with much work and preparation perhaps, one day, becoming a Blue Hatter like us.

You like playing word games don't you? You very well know what I mean, and it stands.
There's a world of difference between egoism and egotism. If you can't get the terminology right, get back in the kitchen.

Or is it get out of the kitchen? Mixing metaphors again.

It's common knowledge that the quality of posting on the Bungie.net forums, especially while Bungie is dark, is sometimes lacking. This isn't surprising; this community features an extremely wide range of ages, so the content of what we post should be expected to vary dramatically.

With that being said, I like to think that with age comes some wisdom. There currently is nothing in place that records a user's literal age, and for privacy reasons it should remain that way. Luckily for us, there already exists a system that (theoretically) tracks one's time and general behavior on Bungie.net: forum titles.

If we assume that the older members of this site are the most wise, and they generally are, then it can further be determined that, given the forum title system, said members are already designated as such in the public forums.

The Mythic Members.

Unfortunately, a common trend I can personally attest to witnessing is the migration of older members into private groups. While I wont state my own opinion, many Mythic Members seem to feel that, as older members of the site, more is expected of them. Because of this, the rules are enforced more harshly upon them. There's essentially a target on the backs of our top tier of members.

The fix I'm proposing is that regulation be loosened for those members who obtain Mythic status.

Mythic Members are inarguably the content creators on these forums. Even when a user of a lesser title group manages to create a quality thread/post, especially here in the Septagon, it's usually a rehash or direct reference to an older thread, most likely created by a user that is now mythic. Mythics essentially enable younger and less experienced users to create quality posts.

In fact, it may be more beneficial to cut down on nonsense and enforce moderation on non-Mythic Members even more rigidly, so they have only the example of Mythic posting to influence their own habits.

By loosening the reigns on the blue bars and knuckling down on non-Mythics, the quality of posts Mythic Members create will trickle down and influence the legendary, heroic, and ordinary members of this site, benefiting all.

Mythics are the content creators, so they should be free to do so for the greater good.

Septagon, if the shoe fits... if it doesn't, there's nothing to see here.

Many people don't read anything but the first and last sentences of great swaths of text. If that were the case, the OT reads as such

"It's common knowledge that the quality of posting on the Bungie.net forums, especially while Bungie is dark, is sometimes lacking.

Mythics are the content creators, so they should be free to do so for the greater good."

Primo, if you simply called out the Mythics to step up their game, that would have been inspiring. As it stands, you announce to the world that Blues are the only individuals with good ideas or at least the wisdom to do so with genius.

"Mythic Members are inarguably the content creators on these forums."

Seriously? I know that I've been trolling for awhile so maybe my voice doesn't matter, but it's this type of elitist attitude that needs to be stamped out of a community. Why would anyone else want to be a part of a group that is only recognized by the color of their posts?

"Mythics essentially enable younger and less experienced users to create quality posts."

Again with the rhetoric. Thankfully every good and perfect thing comes from the Blues. If this is true, I point back to my original statement for the first and last sentence of your post. Don't claim that everything good is from Mythic members, then state that posts are lacking. Yes, the circular logic is that Mythics need to post more in order to show the unwashed masses what true posting wisdom is, and in order to do so Blues need freedom.

"In fact, it may be more beneficial to cut down on nonsense and enforce moderation on non-Mythic Members even more rigidly, so they have only the example of Mythic posting to influence their own habits."

Uh, what? Saying that you want to hold others to a standard you're unwilling to bear is off-putting to say it mildly. And really, what's the point? So people will look up to you? Why don't we allow people to only read Mythic posts? Then they're REALLY get with the program.

"many Mythic Members seem to feel that, as older members of the site, more is expected of them. Because of this, the rules are enforced more harshly upon them. There's essentially a target on the backs of our top tier of members."

Why shouldn't there be a higher standard for Mythic members. I guess Uncle Ben was wrong when he said "With great power comes great responsibility."

I'm disappointed that this wasn't a call to arms. I thought this could be a rallying cry for those of us determined to dialog about thoughts, dreams and heavenly sevens. This discourse could have been more, but instead I've found it lacking. What's really disturbing is the support that it's garnered. I apologize if I'm reading too much into it, but I'm afraid that instead others aren't.

Because you're afraid of posts longer than a paragraph that include long words and challenge you to do more than write a one sentence dismissal without engaging with the original post?

Do tell, why would a thought provoking thread make you avoid this hallowed hall of enlightenment?

No, because this forum is full of circle-jerkers trying to get mod positions and blue bars being arrogant because of a title.

I sincerely hope Primo's OP is some sort of satire or joke.

For all those four letter obscenities, I'm noticing that your post is rather short on actual substance. Care to try that again without cussing so much?

There is already a thread for any post related to titles. Therefore, this thread is spam. I'm sorry you can't seem to fill in the blanks, but I was rather mad, and still am at a high level of anger. Nonetheless, I'm quite tired of any thread that is satirical and can remain unlocked even though it should be taken down.

I don't want to read these jokes, they would stand better within the Mythic Member group, or any other group. I come to the Community Forum for decent discussion, not satirical jokes about a system well past it's time.

Forgive my outburst, I just can no longer stand these threads.

ooga booga boooh

I think the mods need to go far more harshly on Mythic members, actually. Having been one, I can attest to the mind set which some mythic members post to. Some, in certain groups, almost feel more entitled than everyone else when posting.

I think the site just needs to run as per usual, on a case by case basis to ban or warn the elder members. We've been here long enough. We know the rules, and can act accordingly.
