There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

ALAN IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN!

So, I came up with this brilliant idea today while I was mowing and listening to wubstep.

/blog

We, the Community, have Community Interviews, Community Carnage, Community Threads, Community Mail Sacks, but what we don't have are "Community Projects".

Community Projects would be spear-headed by: Those who've had past experience organizing Community events, responsible members, or someone that everyone agrees would be a good Project leader.

The group could be responsible for creating, directing, and publishing large-scale Community projects, like Avatars, Themes, Games, and just 'new' stuff that can push the term "Community" to a whole new level.

I think I could better present you with this idea via an example.

Example: Community Project #1: Dragon Rising

A Community-developed flash game where we incorporate our Bnet avatars and have to build and survive. It would allow for Online and Single Player play, as well as a chatroom (or in game chat, doesn't really matter right now.) Whole point of the game? Think of it as something like "Don't Starve" where your character is 2-D (ish) but in a 3-D(ish) world, and can explore and interact with objects all while in a [insert writers' idea] world.

So, we'd have special roles based on our experience with the roles. Examples below

Overlord: Widely-chosen leader - Heads the entire project, coordinates with other high-end leaders.

UI Lead- Mr. Blah-Heads entire UI lead ; Most experienced in the field.

UI Assitant - Blah- coordinates with Mr. Blah based on UI members input. Presents ideas for UI based on ideas from the UI dudes. Helps with development.

UI Dude 1- Helps develop UI. (Should have past experience with UI)

UI Dude 2 -Same as above.

Etc...

Animation Lead- Mr. Hehe -Heads entire Animation lead ; Most experienced in the field

Animation Assistant- Hehe- Coordinates with Animation Lead ; Presents ideas, assists with development.

Animator Dude 1- Helps develop animation of avatars, environment, the works. (Some past experience)

Animator Dude 2-Same as above.

etc...

I'm hoping you get the idea. We'd have Environment Artists, Character Artists, Enemy Artists, Gameplay Designer, Writers, the works.

All Leader of the categories necessary to complete the project (in this example, the game) would coordinate with each other via PMs, Threads, or Private group dedicated to the Community Projects.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you like to see Community Projects come to life? Why or why not?

Tah-Dah!

Well, you know what they say "Any idea you have has already been posted."

Thanks for the info, though.

This. I'm sure if you'd like to help they'd be glad to have you though.

The name's Ian, Game Designer at Whisper Game Studios, very off-and-on Bungie.net visitor and avid Bungie fan overall. Message me if you wish.

Not that it's doing anything... Kinda frustrating, the only way to get attention now is to make your own thread.

Regardless of anything, the Dragon reference is appreciated.
